I have switched to a smart meter recently for my electricity and the cost is just ridiculous! I can understand and accept that some days cost more than others and that energy prices have risen but my summary tells me that I used £14.38 in one day?! I didn’t run the washing machine on Sunday and the only thing I did differently was that I had the oven on for an extra hour than usual as I’d cooked a roast dinner. What is going on?!

That’s strange. Can you query it with them?

I had a SM installed a couple of weeks ago…. So can’t give any advice I’m afraid.

I will call them tomorrow but I’ve just been on the phone to my brother and his partner as they have a smart meter too and they’ve said that due to prices going up anyway and then the crisis on top pushing them up further they’ve just been quoted £4,000 for the years electricity usage.
I am genuinely devastated for all these people going through such seagull awful things and feel so terrible moaning if this is a result of this as it’s really nothing in comparison but SHIT how will we be able to afford gas and electricity if this is the case?!

Is this utilita? I've just checked mine and there is no Friday or Saturday cost but Sundays is saying £11.25 so maybe it's just lumped all 3 together? I hope so anyway.

Same thing with the gas too, it's not got any costs for Friday and Saturday but Sunday is nearly £12.

Yes Utilita and you’re right, it’s jumped from Thursday to Sunday so fingers crossed that that’s what it is! Still very worrying though that we’re averaging at around £5 a day even if that is the case. I think I’ll be having to put more gaming restrictions in place, I’ll be popular!

I might be misremembering, but I think it adds the standing charge as a lump sum on one day, I think weekly? But mine is absolutely rubbish& spends most of its time beeping that it's disconnected again, so it's been a while since I checked it...
