What age did you use your baby zen yo-yo up until?

DS is two. He’s a big walker but still has frequent moments where he doesn’t want to leave somewhere or wants to walk in the opposite direction to where we need to go, I need to get somewhere quickly etc.
Our pram is a baby jogger and it’s great but we use buses a lot and live in a city and I’m thinking it might be easier to have something a bit lighter and easier.
The only thing is I’m not sure if it’s really worth it at his age?
Wondered what peoples thoughts were?

Get one of those 50 quid (or even cheaper) umbrella ones. The ones that don't have a hood or underneath basket cost about £20 and can literally be hung off your arm.

I had a second hand umbrella one, used it regularly til DD was 4.5.

Can you buy a secondhand one and resell it? I got one when DS was 1 and sold it at 3.5, and so it only cost me £100 overall.

The yo-yo is great but I have twice had it tip over on the bus (with child inside) because it is really lightweight. What I do love it for is that you can fold it up and carry it over your shoulder - so useful when travelling by tube or train and there isn't a lift.

youhadmeatjello · 08/03/2022 13:40

The carrying on the shoulder is what appealed to me! I’m not familiar with the umbrella ones I’ll take a look.

Maclaren used to do an umbrella style one that had a strap so you could carry it over your shoulder.

Thank you! I’ll see if I can find it

Umbrella one with a strap. You don’t need a yo-yo.

Duracellbunnywannabe · 08/03/2022 15:08

Zest goes up to 25kg, is light weight and has a strap. I believe the uppababy one is good too.

JustWonderingIfYou · 08/03/2022 15:14

Yoyo is well worth it imo. Great if you need to fold on the bus as it will stand up on its own when folded instead of needing holding or taking up loads of space onto he floor like an umbrella.

Also just very functional. I love the pocket on the hood.

Legoisthebest · 08/03/2022 15:52

Umbrella ones don't take up much floor space when folded - hence the name. Like an umbrella!

My four year old still sits in our yo-yo for long walks. I love ours, it’s been our main pram since she was born. The other day I had the 2 year old on the bus with me and the yo-yo folded on the floor by his seat (as he insists on sitting on a seat in the bus!) Depending where you live though, I would say it’s not great on cobbles and if you are thinking of having another child the buggy board is really awkward to push with.

PlanningTowns · 09/03/2022 22:55

Loved our yo-yo, but need to sell it now! Our little one used it until she was just shy of 4, possibly slightly longer. Worth all the money for pushing her down the centre of the aircraft when we got off, not using much boot space and carrying it over the shoulder.

The old rain over was useless though so we bought a uni very one which was fab
