I now have pain free sex thanks to HRT BUT always UTI symptoms within 24 hours and lately an itchy non smelling discharge after a week post sex? Can anyone advise it’s getting me down as feel constantly sore down there and now only having sex every couple of months.

You might want topical oestrogen cream as well - HRT helps with the night sweats and general lubrication but your skin can still be dry and delicate especially ‘down there’.

Thanks! Can we get that over the counter or does it have to be GP?

At the moment it’s prescription only but there are moves to make it available OTC.

It’s also possible to be prescribed antibiotics, to take just one after sex.

This tweet thread from a urogynaecologist is very positive about local oestrogen cream and UTIs/discomfort:

The products in the UK are Ovestin or Vagifem. You might need to use them daily at first.

Thanks! Yes 500mg of amoxy I read?
