It's our wedding anniversary today. Can you guess from the photo what year I got married?
**@MrsElms* and @MrsBungle* bingo! 1987! I can hardly believe it, 35 years today. I hate that dress looking back, but I blame Princess Diana.
You look lovely. And you can hardly blame Diana, her wedding was 6 years earlier ...

AroundTheHouses · 07/03/2022 12:50

@LaMarschallin

I'd guess early to mid-80s as there's a touch of Diana, POW's dress style about the sleeves. 1984? (I got married with a whopping Fergie-style bow stuck on my bottom.)
Oh I had one of those too!

Ooh, without looking at other posts I was going to say '87.

You looked beautiful OP. I hate my wedding dress too and I only got married in 2010 - you'll never guess what style that was Grin.

Happy anniversary! Flowers

Happy Anniversary!

Wineloffa · 07/03/2022 12:51

I was going to guess 1987 too because my aunt got married then and her dress and flowers were almost identical!

Congratulations on your anniversary!

AdditionalCharacter · 07/03/2022 12:52

Happy anniversary. Dress is beautiful.

You'll have to give me a clue Busy, my brain isn't as sharp as it once was!

I would have guessed 85. I kind of like the erm, flounciness of it!

I look back at my 2006 dress and while I loved it it's so boring and the same as everyone else's at the time, strapless, corset top, plain and a bit boring!

SommerTen · 07/03/2022 13:13

Congratulations, yes the dress is of its time but you look happy & pretty x

Did your aunt get her dress in Cheltenham Wineloffa? I hired the dress from Cocoa's, so if she did it could be the same one! It cost £350 to hire it!

I bet you looked beautiful though. We're all victims of fashion. I'm just glad I wore my hair up, as I had a proper 80's perm at the time 😄

Happy anniversary!

Your dress is definitely of its time. Mine was too and that’s ok. Current brides often seem to scoff at the dated-ness of the style that went before them (e.g. oooh, I would never wear a strapless dress) but we all just move with the times!

BusySittingDown · 07/03/2022 13:40

It was strapless, same as everyone else's in that time 😂.

JaninaDuszejko · 07/03/2022 13:50

Knew it was late 80s, you look very similar to my friend's (not much older than us) aunty who got married when we were teenagers. From the PoW inspired sleeves to the bouquet and make up. You look lovely!

BestIsWest · 07/03/2022 13:50

Same year as me OP!
Mine was very like this. Big sleeves were a thing!
