How stressful was moving house for you?

It's quite a long while since I've moved and am considering it now, but I know it's meant to be really stressful. Is it harder to leave somewhere if you've been there a long time I wonder? Just wanted to hear from anyone who's moved fairly recently about whether is was as stressful as they thought or any tips to make it less stressful?

That sounds awful strelitzialady

So it sounds like it's the process itself which is the main hard part, the rest then lists help and getting removal to pack for you.

Thanks for all the replies and for the good luck wishes too.

There are stressful moments; will you get the house you want, will someone buy yours, will the surveys be OK, etc., aside from that it's about organising packing and the dumping of excess junk well in advanced. That part is in your control so less anxiety provoking.

We moved last year with a 4 week old baby and an almost 4 year old, it was stressful but we were so lucky to have help from friends who just took over ferrying things to the new house. We were fairly organised and packed at that point anyway so I’d say preparation is key! I’d say that 5 months on we are still working our way through boxes and moving things around so be prepared to be flexible on not necessarily a perfect house straight away.
