Best charity to donate for Ukraine/Russia

I'm sorry if this has been done to death.

I was on here the other day and there was some chat about which charity to donate to help with the Ukraine/Russia crisis.

There was one where our government will match the donation and you can claim gift aid too. It made a huge difference in the final amount.

Or alternatively please let me know if a good charity that may help children. My daughter is going to do a fundraiser at school.

Thanks

The government were matching the fund raising of the Disasters Emergency Committee up to £50m which I believe they passed within 24 hours. DEC is 15 charities who link together at times of crisis including Save the Children Action Against Hunger, Oxfam, Cardozo and the Red Cross/Crescent and they have years of experience getting money to where it needs to go. You can gift aid.

I would sat that the DEC appeal is your best bet, OP.

I've donated money towards food packages through the United Nations WFP Share the Meal initiative. I already subscribe with them so it was easy to add on a specific extra donation.

yes, shamless plug for a worthwhile cause included

Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC). You're clearly raising a little sweetie there - good luck to your daughter!

As peole have already posted DEC, also if you have a local Ukrainian/Polish community look at their Facebook page. Another thing you can do is book an airbnb in Ukraine but not stay so a family gets money directly. Obviously for lots of people this may seem a bit random and how do you pick someone? We were due to stay over feb half-term, see family and ski so just went with the people we had booked.
