We’re stuck between Orlando and Los Angeles. We’ve weighed up the pros and cons but we cannot decide, please help us Mn

Haven’t been to LA but have read recently that theft and homeless are a problem, and that it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

Of all the places in the whole of the United States to choose from. Including some of the most beautiful places on Earth . I can honestly say Orlando and LA would be last in my list.

Who is going. ? Are you not actually going to either Orlando or Los Angeles but a manufactured entertainment like Disney? If so I guess you have small children and the shorter flight would be better if you like that sort of thing. The kids won't know the difference.

@secretsqizzle I’m going with my father so not really into the Disney stuff. We’ve been NYC so we’re mainly looking for beachy places in America

I enjoyed LA

what about Miami?

Anna197264 · 06/03/2022 13:58

I think if you don’t want to Disney places I would avoid Orlando. If you choose LA there’s so much more nearby which would be nice to visit….San Diego, Monterey etc. I agree though that Miami would be worth looking at.

@Anna197264 thank you! I’ll show my dad the thread

Hope you have a lovely time. We were due to do the pacific coast in 2020 but obviously covid stopped that. We need to rebook it
If you decide to do the west coast and are on Facebook there’s a great fb page called Califonia Dreamers and West Coast Wanderers which is really helpful.

Beachy? Clearwater/St Petersburg area? Miami? Naples, FL?

Miami is fab loads to do and you can easily drive to other areas fab beaches and glitzy city vibe easy to get around without a car as they have the free trams but even public transport is dead easy to work out

San Diego is gorgeous very easy to get around even as a non driver they have trams that pretty much cover most of the tourist areas and the bus is excellent Mission Beach and Coronado Island is fab and the waterfront area in SD is lovely with loads of shops bars restaurants

I flew to San Diego and stayed at the Manchester Grand Hyatt which is right on the waterfront stayed there for 10 days
Then i took the train to LA stayed at the
lowes hotel which is right on Hollywood Boulevard stayed there 4 nights
then went to Santa Monica and stayed at the lowes hotel right on the beach for a week
I did all of this using the train and public transport didn’t hire a car at all
All the hotels were 4 - 5 star hotels I booked everything myself and went with my adult son
I think I must have been crazy 😂
