Would you eat this?

Went to eat a ready prepared layered salad earlier which was use by today (annoying as only delivered yesterday) and saw that it had frozen in our fridge and most of it in a solid block.

I'm pregnant but was thinking about eating it as it's had a couple of hours out to thaw but it's pasta, bacon, chicken and lettuce, carrots, cucumber, sweet corn.

Would you eat it?

I don't think I'd risk it.

No

Wildidle · 05/03/2022 22:10

No, mostly because thawed cucumber is vile.

Unlikely to harm you but it'll probably be rank!

It's from Asda isn't it? They always freeze - they're a pain in the arse. Bin it. Defrosted cucumber is never fun.

ButtockUp · 05/03/2022 22:15

No

jugglerofballs · 05/03/2022 22:16

Nope

Birthdayblunder · 05/03/2022 22:35

See I knew there was something in my head telling me the cucumber might be the issue. DH thinks it's fine and I'm being overcautious so said he'll eat it instead. He'll eat most things though and complain about his dodgy tummy afterwards.

Yes, you're right Squiff, it's the Asda one. Bloody annoying.

Pregnant or not salad that has been frozen is yuck so I'd chuck it

DariaMorgendorffer · 06/03/2022 11:29

I wouldn't.

BarbaraofSeville · 06/03/2022 11:33

Well it's not going to be dangerous, but it might be a bit mushy and unpleasant because a lot of those of ingredients aren't suitable for freezing.

If it's freezing in your fridge, it sounds like the setting is too high/temperature is too low, so you need to look at that.

BarbaraofSeville · 06/03/2022 11:35

Looking again at the ingredients, I'd probably pick out the cucumber and lettuce but the pasta, bacon and sweetcorn will be fine once it's defrosted and there's no reason for there to be a food safety issue.

No, frozen thawed salad is vile. I couldn't eat it pregnant or not
