Celebrity scandals of the noughties

The thread about the 90s went well so how about another one for 2000-2010?

Off the top of my head:

  • Brad leaving Jen for Angelina
  • Becks cheating on Posh with Rebecca Loos (allegedly)
  • Janet Jackson's Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction
  • Tom Cruise jumping up and down on Oprah's sofa (though I suppose not really a scandal per se)
  • Britney marrying two guys in the space of a year
  • David Blunkett and the DNA test

Any others? It seems to have been a very quiet decade for the royals - quite a change from the Diana years!

I remember Vernon Kay apologising to Tess Daly live on his radio show. He’d been sexting some grotty soft porn person. I was listening in the car at the time and found it very awkward.

Car crash TV watching Whitney and Bobby in their documentary.

This was after her being found with weed after a flight to Hawaii (but she left the island before being charged). Then there was her assistant Robin (rumours abounded about their relationship) leaving her employ citing her behaviour.

Robin has written a book about her friendship and initial relationship with Whitney when they were both young.

They were very close friends and had been together. Robin in now happily married to her wife but the impression I get is that they really loved each other.

It was kept quiet and they were made to split up due to her career and her mother's religious beliefs.

Thanks Wags, hadn't known there she had written a book. I hope she found peace with how it ended.

@DeegeeDee No, it's Oprah's relationship with close friend Gayle King! I don't think there's anything in it - she's been with Stedman a long time now.

I agree wrt Oprah, especially now - the climate for the lgbtq community is much more tolerant than it was 20/30 years ago thank goodness.

I have 5 dc and two are gay and love with their partners. I can't imagine how it must be to have to pretend long term Sad

Was it Abi Clancy that got caught snorting coke and ditched by Peter Crouch?

Loads of celebs getting caught doing that sort of thing. The papers don't seem to report it as much now.

It's true that Celeb scandal seems a lot more watered down these days via the tabloids.

She never named him. Matthew Wright 'accidentally' named him on The Wright Stuff when they were talking about her book. However, she didn't come out and say that it wasn't him when it all kicked off.

Rebecca loos is now a yoga teacher in Norway, married to a doctor (I think) & has two boys. She looks very happy - she’s on Instagram!

What happened to Abi Titmuss?! Remember her - the one who tried to get famous by being the girlfriend of ‘disgraced’ John Leslie?! The 00s was a time of rock-bottom celebs who were famous for absolutely nothing!!
Has it got better now?! I’d like to think so - now things like Heat magazine aren’t so prevalent (does it even exist now? Or Now magazine? I used to love both in the 00s) I wonder if that’s the end of the days of people like Michelle Heston & Kerry Katona being photographed falling out of clubs coked off their eyeballs. You wouldn’t put that sort of thing on your own insta feed - it’s much more curated nowadays. I find it fascinating how it’s all changed!
