Did my year 7 music teacher lie to us?

For a Christmas choir performance she had us sing this really cool song she said she made up it sounded something like:

Ari-addy-are-mouse-latte
Ani-mani- cool-aid rar way lar- tee-ar

I can't remember exactly, but I was humming it and was told by my friend its an actual song?!

Can anyone try and work out what on earth I'm on about? Is it a song? Did our teacher lie?

m.youtube.com/watch?v=NfomQSfJrFU Do yes, she lied to you!

Jovanka · 05/03/2022 14:22

It sounds like Adiemus by Karl Jenkins. How many years ago was the Christmas concert? Adiemus was released in 1995.

Arghhconfused · 05/03/2022 14:29

Yes thats it!! That's the song!! OMG the betrayal!!

She was very stupid to have pretended to write such a well known song. Unless she is Karl Jenkins 😂

NannyGythaOgg · 05/03/2022 14:49

Some years ago a friend told me her boyfriend had written her a poem and she thought it was really good and he was very talented.

She told me a couple of lines and was gobsmacked when I carried on with a few more lines.

It was Leonard Cohen's Suzanne, with the name changed to hers.

Molehillfromamountain · 05/03/2022 14:51

We did this song too! Now wondering if you went to school in a town beginning with U?

Butteredtoast55 · 05/03/2022 18:14

I was ready to say Karl Jenkins but others beat me to it! She was obviously teaching you phonetically and it worked as so many of us got it straight away! Grin

Butteredtoast55 · 05/03/2022 18:15

Maybe she meant she'd made up the phonetic version is what I meant to say ...although she might just be a big fat fibber!

zigzag56445 · 05/03/2022 21:57

Love that tune!

Comefromaway · 05/03/2022 22:02

My tutor at university transcribed all the harmonies of Adiamus by ear as the sheet music hadn’t yet been published. He did a pretty accurate job.

Can’t believe your teacher tried to claim it as their own. It was all over Classic FM at the time.

Arghhconfused · 06/03/2022 12:29

I know! We all thought it was really cool.

No it was a middle school in a town beginning with H

This. Song was ubiquitous.
