Dd is turning 9 in September and loves adventure and explorers stories. We have run out of ideas, can anyone recommend us some books that have a strong female lead? Could be fantasy, or historical fiction or related to mythology. She also loves anything related to rescuing pets.

TIA

The Polar Bear Explorer's Club trilogy and the follow up series, The Ocean Squid Explorer's Club by Alex Bell.
Both my sons love them. I love them. The main character in the first 3 is a kick ass, takes no nonsense girl and she is great. I haven't read the new series but my sons have said it is great.

The Train to Impossible Places and The Great Brain Robbert by P.G Bell.

The Explorer by Katherine Rundell

Brightstorm by Vashti Hardy (it has sequels I haven't read yet)

And the Percy Jackson series of course, although Percy is the main character, Annabeth is awesome.

Has she read Willard Price's adventure series? It's not a female lead but about two boys who collect animals for zoos or join science expeditions and travel the world. They were written a while back, possibly in the 40s, 50s so sometimes need a bit of explanation around people's views of things changing these days but my 9 year old loves them.

I'm so stupid, dd is turning 10 in September!

I will check these: Polar Bear Explorer's Club trilogy, The Ocean Squid Explorer's Club by Alex Bell and also Willard Price's adventure series.

Percy Jackson sounds awesome.
