Would you be offended if a party host chose food they liked?

It’s a surprise party so can’t ask person whose birthday it is. I’ve organised and paid for it all, for one of my parents.

I’m just ordering food platters from the supermarket. I like the look of the wraps one but I’m not sure if my parent would like them so I’m unsure. I’ve also got a sandwich one, and another family member is doing sausage rolls, pork pies, and other nibbles as they’ve called it.

So do I order one sandwich and one wrap platter? Then buy things like crisps, breadsticks etc.

There’s obviously also a cake which is being made, and I was going to get some cupcakes as there will be a few little DC (including my own and my DNs) there who probably won’t eat the slightly more grown up cake I’ve gone for.

So wraps or just sandwiches? I prefer wraps but do eat sandwiches.

You are massively overthinking.

You will have a choice. Choice is good.

No, definitely buy loads of stuff that nobody likes
Make sure that there is nothing that any of the kids would enjoy Confused

They are your family

Surely you have some idea of what they eat?

Good call. I agree, it's nice to have variety at a buffet. If you are as greedy as I am, and (crucially) if it looks like there's plenty of food for everyone, you can end up trying lots of different things, and as a guest that would make me very happy. 🐖

My parent is quite fussy with food so I've ordered a sandwich one that has a flavour they definitely like, plus they do like crisps, breadsticks, sausages rolls etc.

It's just hard because usually I'd ask them what they want, and I can't!

Ah I order platters for work always opt for stuff I like, as long as there’s enough no one will worry.
