Center Parcs holiday looming up and getting giddy !

We have been once before so I know you need to take some essential kitchen items and other things like ketchup ,teabags ,sugar etc etc

I have a box with groceries in and on the day we go we will buy other food items. I don't want to get caught out and have to use the shop there as it is expensive so that is one lesson learned.

My question is, have you been and do you have any tips and recommendations - do's and don'ts that made your stay better?

Thanks in advance

We take a meal for first night and book 5-6pm click and collect at Asda. We unpack, have a cup of tea and put dinner on while DH’s collect after unloading the car.
Pancake house is closed so find yourself dream toppings that you wouldn’t normally have at home and add to Asda order to replicate at your lodge.
If you’re light sleepers take bedlinen. The duvet is like a paper bag. Baby woke six million times and I was nearly at the point of strangling my DH just to stop him breathing and rustling the sheets.
Take a stick on the window bird feeder and nuts.
Book a spa treatment for mid week. It’s what stopped me actually strangling my DH.

toomuchlaundry · 04/03/2022 06:51

Which one are you going to?

WheelieBinPrincess · 04/03/2022 07:33

Pancake house wasn’t closed at Elveden Confused

I thought the shop was ok really, wouldn’t get it all from there not fine for odd item.

Pool of colder and ordering every single drink through a bloody app was feckin annoying!

WheelieBinPrincess · 04/03/2022 07:33

OP, have a lovely time.

Bird seed for local wildlife, chalk for chalk board (still not provided), sandwich bags (useful for a variety of things!) Slippers/dressing gown/ hoody to be all cosy as it's the colder months still! We just got back from Sherwood and had such a great time. Enjoy!

WheelieBinPrincess · 04/03/2022 07:44

100% take your own birdseed, that is a rip off there.

WellTidy · 04/03/2022 07:46

Chalks for chalk board (as they don’t provide them anymore)
Matches/lighter if you’re going to use the fire
Bin bags
Fairy liquid
Loo roll
Foil

I always take my big mug too

WheelieBinPrincess · 04/03/2022 07:48

Take extra dishwasher tabs, they only give you 3.

Bunty55 · 04/03/2022 14:02

Thank you one and all x x

Don't forget towels to take to the swimming. They charge you extra for them and the ones in room you're not allowed to take. Fuck that though, next time I'm taking them and they can stick it. One thing I bloody hate about CP is the nickel and dining on everything. Book the Minigolf, pretty cheap and fun.

OP have the best time, I love CP and we're booked to go back in June, can't wait.

nearlyspringyay · 04/03/2022 15:02

Take loads of money to pay for everything that isn't included. Do you still get rationed on the swimming pool?

We have literally just left Longleat, it was heavenly!

A couple of things we would add to our packing list for next time (I also echo the PP who suggested towels, tea, and coffee - they only supply a little bit of the latter two... likewise do bring extra dishwasher tablets if your accommodation has one):

A whisk and a silicone spatula, as they are otherwise v good at supplying pans and utensils but we missed these (we wanted to make our own pancakes on Shrove Tues as the Pancake House at Longleat is currently closed)

Salt and pepper

Matches if you have ordered logs for the burner, as they don't supply them - we ended up lighting ours from the gas hob!

Also - you probably don't need to worry about bringing cash as Longleat at least has gone completely cash free, even for vending machines/pool tables etc.

PaddleBoardingMomma · 04/03/2022 17:56

@ShowOfHands your comment made me snort laugh, going to steal it to use myself 😂

eatyourcrustspls · 04/03/2022 19:44

Sorry for my childish response, for some reason CP is associated with bum sex on here 😂

OP - we go to Whinfell all the time. Last went in Jan. the shop is well stocked. Take some tassimo coffee pods. Have you a fire? Take some logs from B&M bargains - the smokeless ones as they are a bomb in the shop.

Lots of monkey nuts for the red squirrels.

Washing up liquid.

Don't rely on the ovens, unless you are lucky to have one of the new electric ones, otherwise they are crap.
