Do carrots taste a bit soapy?

Do carrots taste a bit soapy? Do better carrots taste more or less soapy? If so, which carrots are better? Does it make a difference how you cook your carrots? I’m beginning to wonder if I just don’t like carrots very much.

Yes, carrots and parsnips taste 'soapy' to me. Baby carrots less so.

For me they do if they're in carrot and coriander soup. Coriander tastes like soap to me. Vile stuff.

Untainted carrots are fine.

They certainly can do yes - I find bigger ones are stronger tasting so pick a bag that has smaller ones in it (although those tiny chanteray ones can be the worst so avoid them!)

I also put a splash of orange juice (or lemon juice and sugar) in the water when cooking them, which helps.

Agree poppy - coriander is truly the devils herb 🌿

Erm....no??

I have never thought they tasted soapy. I love carrots - raw, grated in salad, roasted, mashed with swede, cooked in a butter and honey glaze or even plain boiled.

So helpful about the big/small tip - I’ve probably been buying hoarier carrots in recent years based on my views about other veggies, so maybe that’s why I’m becoming disenchanted.
