Starting this thread because I literally don't know what to do with myself at the moment.

Very close family member has stage four cancer, He was taken to hospital today with sepsis, He's mid 80s.

We have been told to go home, They asked to speak to his wife and for his dnr form, and now we wait.

I can't switch my thoughts off. They won't tell me anything. Should we be preparing for the worst in this situation?

Sorry to hear this OP.
Hospitals can't take anyone's word for it that there is a DNAR form and so should always ask to see it.
Obviously, sepsis can be very tough for anyone, never mind someone who is already unwell and in their 80s. However, I would expect the team to give an idea of prognosis, bearing in mind it may change depending on response to treatment and other factors. Will his wife tell update you?

To add - if visitor numbers are.atill limited where you are and his wife is NOK, that may be why you were asked to leave.
When you say "they won't tell me anything" do you mean hospital staff or family as they? Only NOK can be given info on a patient's condition.
I understand this must be very worrying for you and I hope his wife is able.to update you soon.
