I’d love some opinions please.

I’m currently in a Band 5 NHS role. Due to end in 10 months, likely to be extended. I will have been there more than 10 years so get all the excellent benefits, good pension and will be on 33 days leave plus bank holiday. Am on top band 5 which is currently £31.5K a year for full time and I work fully WFH.

However, I’ve just been offered a band 6 job. It’s the first band 6 I applied for. It’s in a trust, whereas the other one isn’t. I would need to work fully from the office and, to be honest, I’m not sure I fancy it.

However, do I suck up the office work for 6-12 months, knowing that it’ll probably be easier to get another band 6 job if I’m already a band 6. Or do I stay where I am and continue looking? I’m genuinely torn

Forgot to say that the new one is permanent

I would do the band 6 role for a year and then apply for other roles. Where I work there aren’t many non clinical band 6 roles so it can be quite hard for people to take that first step into more senior roles.

Are band 6 roles generally office based, or is there likely be be band 6 opportunities wfh?

Would you kick yourself in a couple of weeks/months if you turned down an opportunity to get a more senior position and higher salary, even if it did mean working from the office?

If you stay where you are much longer it may be difficult to progress. I guess you aren't on a professional register if you are working from home, and no unsocial hours?
Time to try something new.

What’s also making me unsure about going into the office again is that I have Type 1 diabetes, diagnosed about 8 months ago. It’s taken a while to get things under control and I guess I’m quite nervous about being away from my comfort zone. It’s so hard. My head wants one thing and my heart another.
