And I haven’t got a clue what to get him.

He got most of what he wanted for Christmas.

What are your 7 years olds into please?

Board games
Map case, compass, specimen jars, magnifying glass etc- explorers kit

I have two DS 8 and with birthdays soon. They both want:
Nintendo games
Minecraft stuff
Pokemon stuff (cards are always good)
Lego
More pokemon
Clothes and trainers for the eldest

EcoCustard · 01/03/2022 15:10

Ds was 7 just before Christmas and is into/received:
Lego City, Lego Technic
Farm equipment for his toy farm
Rugby ball
Stationery
Faraway Tree book set
Binoculars
Magic set

JamMakingWannaBe · 01/03/2022 15:10

Do you have Uno and some helping hand card holders?
Kite
Light up Lego
An "experience" such as ice-skating or horse riding
Tie-dye kit
Origami set

Soubriquet · 01/03/2022 15:26

He doesn’t like Lego Confused

Neither dc do. They find it boring.

We have many uno sets and he only manages to tolerate one game.

He doesn’t like reading but we are buying him some reading books to his taste to try and encourage it.

He also wants some squishmellows and dh is kicking up a big stink about that because he’s a boy and he’s 7 and he should be growing up. I’m standing firm on that. Ds is turning 7 not 17 and if he wants a couple of teddies like those he can bloody well have them

8 yo just had a basketball net (and a basketball) for the garden.

He likes fancy dress too so got some costumes - Lego ninjago but I see yours doesn’t like Lego

Games for console

Board game

Nerf gun from a school friend

Baseball cap and sunglasses for another friend

Football shirt

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 01/03/2022 15:54

Those are all the non Lego things he got!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 01/03/2022 15:55

Of course he can still have teddies! Ds also had a massive teddy - I forgot that. He’s got hundreds in his room

waterrat · 01/03/2022 16:50

Football kit. Goalie gloves. A goal. Endless lego. Cuddly toys!

balalake · 01/03/2022 17:27

I agree with your buying books, boys should be encouraged to read more.

Crunchymum · 01/03/2022 17:30

Any kind of activity he will enjoy?

A day trip somewhere?

Soubriquet · 01/03/2022 17:33

Plenty. Only we can’t really afford it right now and he wouldn’t understand having a day trip instead of a present.

Whilst he’s turning 7, he is also immature for his age. He has the mentality of a 4 year old sometimes.

My son's birthday is this week too (he'll be 11) and I've struggled. It's so soon after Xmas. He's got a new bike (second hand but he knows that my budget won't stretch to new). I've bought him a new football, some smellies, a couple of clothing items and some accessories for his bike. Family will do Smyths or Amazon vouchers so he can choose something himself.

At 7 I'd go for Lego, crafts/colouring, games, books, perhaps a sweetie hamper, bath bombs. I hope he has a lovely day!

TheFormidableMrsC · 01/03/2022 17:44

I just remembered, at the same age I bought my son a pop up tent. That was a gift that he used until it practically fell apart, he loved it. Also if you have a garden, you can get pop up goal nets that fold away. A basketball hoop on the wall was another one that went down well.

Cagedbirdsinging · 01/03/2022 17:53

My sons and grandchildren have been pleased to receive sciencey things : microscope , Euler's Disc , compass , telescope , Slinky , Newton's Cradle ; also craft supplies like coloured card and construction paper , glue , poster paints .

Soubriquet · 01/03/2022 17:58

Crafting stuff!!

He loves to craft

Skateboard, helmet etc and a skateboarding lesson?
Snap circuits? Gravitrax?

shoefactree · 01/03/2022 18:50

Slime and science kits (esp the fossils or dig for whatever ones) were big hits at that age.

DS also loved a stuffed toy at that age, one of the more realistic ones rather than a teddy. Does he have a favourite animal?

PPCD · 01/03/2022 19:02

If he likes cuddly toys, I'd get him cuddly toys. Great for imaginative play. Jellycat has lovely toys.

On a different note, my daughter was given a Tobbie the robot for Christmas which was really good. You have to build it yourself and then it follows you around.

OneMoreTimeThen · 01/03/2022 19:13

My ds most loved gift from his 7th bday was his metal slinky from Amazon! Also enjoyed doing one of those 3D puzzles ?

Soubriquet · 01/03/2022 19:18

Thank you for all your suggestions. We have managed to get together a load of stuff to be delivered, hopefully in time.

I already have an interactive smart watch for him but it’s only a Jurassic park children version which I know he will be happy with.
