Current viruses that are NOT covid?

I've been unwell for a week now. Started with a sore throat that didn't really turn into much, had a banging headache, general feeling of malaise and low grade temperature. No cough or runny nose. I have a backache/stomach ache which hurts when moving only (e.g walking down stairs or going over a bump in the car is uncomfortable) but no gastro symptoms. Not well enough to work (NHS), basically in bed but just doing the very basics as necessary. DD also been unwell but now complaining or earache too.

Anyone else had this? I've done about 5 LFTs and a PCR but all negative! Am feeling under pressure from work but I'm just bloody ill!!!

Took unwell last week got tested for covid which was negative but positive for flu, feeling dreadful.

Ooh that sounds horrid, I sincerely hope you feel better soon!! I don't think this flu for me though, I had it a few years ago and it was one of the worst experiences of my life, hands down, you have my sympathies!

When I had it I literally lost an entire week, I remember saying I didn't feel well, immediately went to bed, and "came to" a week later having sweated and coughed and garbled nonsense for days - ugh!

Could still be flu - like with covid, one person can get it severely and another like a bad cold.

There’s a ton of nasty stuff around at the moment though. I’m off work myself feeling miserable - negative for covid but feel like death on toast. Urgh.

"Death on Toast" - I like that! I just feel as if my boss is getting a bit impatient when I say I'm not well, that I ought to be able to prove it. It isn't something I would have worried about for a SECOND before covid and bloody lateral flow tests/swabbing came along - like if it's not covid you can't actually be ill because the only illness IS covid!

Both my DH and I are fighting a heavy cold at the moment. Horrendous cough, sneezing, incredibly sore throat, can't get warm and extremely tired and headachy all the time. We've both done a few tests for covid which have all been negative and we're approaching a week of this tomorrow.

Only upside is we've both lost our appetite so our weight loss is doing well!

I had what seemed like an inner ear problem- dizzy, nauseous, hot, cold, headache. I also got a visual aura migraine type thing. Negative tests and only slightly raised temperature, but I felt dreadful. No appetite, no energy. DH was worried.

Cough, wheezy chest, aching body, temp, can’t get worm weirdly, headache and I’m SO tired I can’t move.

I thought I was feeling better yesterday so took the bins out (a 3min walk each way) and came home and felt just awful, I had to lay down for a couple of hours!

It’s not covid but whatever it is is bloody unpleasant!

My colds always lead to an ear infection but I had one of those on it’s own a couple of weeks ago so I’m interested (concerned!) to see what happens now!

Some say the nasal only LFT tests are not that effective for Omicron. Try doing a throat swab too.

I have, they are still all negative I clouding the PCR. I wish it was covid so my boss would leave me alone!

Same here, got sinus infection, chest aching and ear sore. General flu feeling pains in body and sweating. Had it over 2 weeks now and 2 lots of antibiotics. Felt a wee bit brighter this morning so lifted dog poo and took the dogs out and now collapsed on the couch done in xxx

My dd11 has had this weird bug, started with a cold a couple of weeks ago, had a temp she seemed to get better but was left with a cough. This morning she was sick once and had the runs. Shes neg for covid and still has a blocked nose and cough. Probably 2 seperate bugs but it’s lingering and she’s so tired

All testing negative. As a family we've had some sort of virus this last couple of weeks. Very sore throat, sinus symptoms, teeth hurt, runny nose, headaches, feeling like you want to stay in bed. This went on to develop into croup in our youngest grandson)15 months and he had a couple of nights in hospital, and the rest of us lost our voices/developed laryngitis. The worst of the illness was during half term break.

Much worse virus in the children than when they all tested positive for covid.

Negative LFTs here too - feeling like utter crap. Body aches, headache, shivery, severe fatigue, runny / blocked nose, extremely sore throat - so much so that even breathing hurts, horrible cough that hurts so much too. I'm on day 9 of feeling rough & I'm completely over it now. I just want to feel better. I'd settle for just feeling a little but less crap at this point.

Oh. I just got a positive covid test so ignore my earlier comment 🤦🏻‍♀️

I had this just before Christmas and felt awful . There was a thread about the same time with lots of other people suffering the same symptoms (exactly the same as yours OP). Am ok now but it did take about 3 weeks to feel myself again.
