World Book Day - how do I nominate the principal for sainthood?

Amongst the mass of people having to create all manner of insane costumes for World Book Day, we got a message from school saying "For World Book Day, all children will make a bookmark in school. They can also bring in their favourite book to show to the rest of the class".

Would it be unreasonable to run to school and hug the Principal?

That's a great idea - I skived from work yesterday to make a weapon out of cardboard for my son to take. He is dressing up as Jack from Last Kids on Earth so not too tricky but still a pain!

Our school is great - no dressing up, and no mention of money either. Message says it’s against their green ethos to encourage dressing up for a day that often means single use clothes or anything specially purchased.

And the PTA are organising an event where we can drop off any previously loved books, and all the children will have the opportunity to select a new (to them) book later that day. No cost here either.

I'm on my 5th costume for the school year.

We have had (so far).

Halloween (though party cancelled)
Number Day
Nativity (which DS had covid for and couldn't do)
World Book Day this week.
Class Play in a few weeks.

Its March. I still have 5 months of the year left to go.

Its not even funny at this point.

Im doing my best to reuse and recycle bits of costumes and make my own stuff but there's a point where DS going 'but i have to be x' and theres no getting out of it.

I know parents with 4 kids in the school.

This is the best idea. I'm so pleased dts are y6 and this is the last one - please tell me they don't do it secondary?!?
