Victoria Park, London - Where would you stay for gig?

Hi all,

Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong section.

I've booked to go to a gig at Victoria park in august and haven't a clue where to stay. Would you stay nearby or stay in central London and get the tube to the venue?(does the tube even go there??)

Any recommendations are welcome - I've only ever stayed in central London / Covent Garden etc before.

It has to be somewhere "nice" - I don't do dodgy!

I've just realised I keep saying "gig" - that makes me sound so old 😂

It's a festival!

Anywhere on the central line would be fine.

Westfield Stratford City is not too far with lots of places to stay.

Mama Shelter London - easy to walk to the gig and close to Shoreditch for all your other needs. Have fun!

Ah, I looked at mamashelter on booking.com! Thanks very much u lot.

If you only do “nice”, how about the Four Seasons at Ten Trinity Square? You’ve got Tower Hill tube station on your doorstep for tube to Mile End station - then a 10 minute walk up Grove Road to Victoria Park.

Depending on how long you’re staying, there’s then plenty nearby the hotel for exploring, plus Tower Gateway DLR just round the corner for going into Canary Wharf for shops/restaurants (I find CW much more pleasant than Westfield at Stratford).

Purely being nosy, what festival are you going to? Whatever it is, have fun. I used to live near VP, miss having lots on my doorstep!

Thanks furries il have a look - I do like a bit of luxury!

The festival is the All Points East festival - I'm going the night Tame Impala is playing - can't wait! Its on over about a week - I'd have loved to see Gorillaz and Disclosure too but they're on different nights and we don't really have the option to stay longer than a couple of nights.
Why the fuck should the Ukraine and the Ukrainian people just roll over and say sure Vlad can have my country, no worries, I'll get a hammer and sickle tat too, starting speaking Russian, hell I'll start wanking to pictures of Vlad, start calling him daddy Vlad and tickle his balls. No.
I'm also really interested to see another bit of London having only stayed in the obvious places before.

Oops, I'm so sorry - I just accidentally copied and pasted a bit from another thread - not sure how that happened 😂

I meant to add - I'm looking forward to seeing a different bit of London! 😂

Lots of hotels in and around canary wharf within easy distance of Victoria Park.

Probably bad taste on my part, but your post did make me chuckle. Nothing like a bit of fighting spirit when looking for a hotel!

Festival sounds great.

I stayed at the FS a few years ago (for work, didn’t come out of my pocket). It really is lovely and definitely good for those transport links I mentioned. I’m also a fan of having the City of London on my doorstep at weekends - more sedate than the West End in terms of volume of people, but loads open. Love mooching round all the tiny side streets. Plus, other side of the river is Butlers Wharf etc. And it’s not too far to wander up to Smithfield’s, Brick Lane etc.

There’s also the Sky Garden a very short walk away on Fenchurch Street. I’d probably only book in for a drink - many better places to spend £££ on food - but it’s a great place for fantastic views over London.

Oh I had forgotten about YOTEL London Shoreditch (formerly the East London Hotel). We put my partners Father up there when we came to town and he was very happy. You've got some fab Bethnal Green boozers close by like the Dundee arms and Sun tavern, but even better, just behind is Paradise Row - which has Japanese Canteen, Mother kellys for drinks, Sager + Wilde to eat. Chiringuito is also nice for a cocktail. Both Yotel and Mama Shelter are close to Broadway Market too - which has lots of cool spots. If you want somewhere fab and cool to eat you must try The Laughing Heart on Hackney road - great food. Oh and Morito for tapas too - ok i'll stop now.

APE is fab.
I’ll be there too.

Town Hall Hotel is good. And a 15min walk to VP.

Enjoy.

Loving your rant too!
