We have lost our DDs birth certificate and our marriage certificate. Both are absolutely definitely in the house somewhere. We have searched high and low!
Married 8 years ago, DD born 1 year ago.
Can anyone suggest where they might be?? They're not likely to be together...

Pray to St Anthony?

In a drawer that was originally for important paperwork and now you've put lots of unrelated stuff on top and forgotten that the drawer was supposed to be for important paperwork. Look at the bottom of the drawer.

@chocolateisavegetable thanks. I've looked in both "document" drawers and they definitely aren't in there!

@Punching thanks. I'll check the bookshelf again but don't think they're there.
The birth certificate I last saw on a bookshelf, but it's a built in one and can't have fallen down the back. Its definitely not in the shelf it was in before.
We didn't need the marriage certificate to get the birth certificate.
I can't remember when I last saw the marriage certificate, years ago! Possibly in a drawer in my bedroom, but it's not there now.

Did you ever decide to get organised and keep stuff in a file? And the organisation lasted for 3 months and you then forgot of the file's existence. Done that too!

Will0wtree · 27/02/2022 21:40

Tucked inside photo albums (the one from when your daughter was born and your wedding one).

groovergirl · 27/02/2022 21:40

Did you have to photocopy them at some stage along with your passports etc? They may be with your passports in a large envelope. Check the car or any totes or briefcases you might have carried them in.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 27/02/2022 21:43

Just order new ones, certified copies are about £11. The originals are bound to show up minutes after you order them!

darlingsweetpea · 27/02/2022 21:45

I had to give my DD nursery a copy of her birth certificate, have you done this and forgotten to get it back maybe?

HaggisBurger · 27/02/2022 21:45

Inside the scanner / printer? I lost a passport there scanning a copy…

jemimafuddleduck · 27/02/2022 21:52

@Will0wtree we don't have photo albums

@groovergirl not with the passports

@CeeceeBloomingdale you're absolutely right! I have actually already ordered a new marriage certificate but was hoping to avoid getting a new birth certificate as I need it asap!

@darlingsweetpea yes we did need to do this! But it's not with the nursery stuff.

@HaggisBurger don't have a printer or scanner.

Thanks all for the suggestions so far!

Inside the red book that the health visitor, midwife etc fills in ? (I'm old, I don't know if red books are still a thing!)

cutebutstabby · 27/02/2022 22:31
