Relocation half way between London and Birmingham

I am looking for recommendations for places to live half way between London and Birmingham. Looking for somewhere with a good community feel, safe and close to great countryside. Good travel links, and activities . Schools aren't important. Somewhere not too staid, but also not too citified.

How about Cheltenham? Although the rail links to London are not good.

Nuneaton or Rugby

I personally don't like Nuneaton at all, as an outsider. I'd much rather Warwick or Leamington Spa.
