Does anyone struggle with bread/cake but not pasta

I recently cut out bread and cake. Partly because I'm on a calorie controlled diet and also because I found I was constantly bloated.

I have come to the conclusion over the past month or so with trial and error that having bread or cake gives me a bad tummy (bloated, windy, diahorrea).

However I am completely fine with pasta!

Is anyone the same/similar and can shed some light on it please? Any tips?

White bread, especially French bread gives me hellish heartburn, pasta is fine. No idea why!

A friend of mine had bloating etc caused by bread but found that wraps were okay - she put it down to the yeast in bread. Not sure if there’s any evidence behind it or not but it worked for her.

I have the opposite problem! I'm fine with bread but pasta gives me stomach cramps.

Bread and white pasta bloats me incredibly.
Whole meal pasta I can just about her along with but I only serve myself about 1/3 of what it says on the pack for portion size.

Unless you’re making the pasta it’s not made from the same kind of wheat.

I can't eat bread at all now apart from occasional flat breads. I feel nauseous within an hour of eating it and remain bloated and windy for 3 or 4 days afterwards. I love good bread but I can't tolerate feeling so ill after eating it so I've given up trying. I've decided it must be yeast.

Unfortunately for my waistline I'm still fine with cake!

Ah OK....... can you explain more please?

Pasta should be just 100% wheat, nothing else.

Bread and cake - especially shop bought - too many ingredients which can cause havoc.
It may be the yeast or any other raising agent, it can be the quite large amount of sugar in packed bread, it can be any combination of ingredients.

A friend was ok with simple home made bread, flour, water, yeast, oil and sponge or biscuit cakes. Any kind of shop bought bread or cake and she was severe stomach/digestive issues.

Pasta is made using flour from durum wheat which is a different kind of wheat than the kind used to make normal flour.

Not saying it’s definitely because of that or anything, but I don’t see why it couldn’t be.

Lots of flatbreads are just flour and water too, if they do it as well it might just be that that type of wheat doesn’t agree with you.

Yes I'm the same but I only eat wholewheat pasta.
