Anyone been on a (BBC) TV show? How long did the process take?

Hi,

Bit of a niche one! Just wondering if anyone could give me some insight about the process of applying to be on a BBC show?

My father applied to be on a show over two years ago. Did not hear back, and then completely forgot about it. However, they got in touch with him this week asking for more information from him. Seems a bloody long time doesn’t it? They also still haven’t confirmed whether they actually want to use him…

I’ve been on antiques roadshow and Question Time as a audience member but that was all arranged pretty quickly.

I know this is a long shot but has anyone else had such a long time from applying to hearing back?

6 months maybe? I was on Mastermind a few years ago. I applied, had a phone call with questions, then an in person taped ‘interview’. Was then another 6 months from taping to broadcast.

Ach. After the taped interview then a couple of months after I was called as successful. Maybe another month after that we filmed.

No mine was quite quick. It was towards the end of the series run and I think they were struggling to find a suitable contestant. I answered an ad in The Sun!

My colleague was on the chase and it took about 2 years from applying!

Everyone’s experience is roughly the same as mine, ie not taking ridiculously long. Antiques Roadshow was about 2 months and Question Time about two days.

Really confused about why they have taken so long to get in touch with my father.
