Hotel recommendations in Bath please

Dh bought us vouchers for Bath spa for Valentine’s this year which means I’m now tasked with booking the hotel and making all the arrangements.
I know in theory he could do it but last time I entrusted him to book a hotel he booked a hostel with 12 people in a room. There were four sets of three sleeper bunk beds. It was horrific. Enough said.

Anyway, I want somewhere within walking distance to the thermal spa preferably. I’d like it to feel like a treat so wouldn’t mind some recommendations for a slightly nicer than average hotel as it’s not something we get to do very often.
If you have any recommendations for nice places to eat as well that would be very much appreciated. Thanks Smile

Royal Crescent hotel is gorgeous- you feel like you are in an Austen novel or Bridgerton. Just about walking distance to the thermal baths, but uphill on the way back@

The St Francis used to be lovely in their upgraded rooms but I've not been for a few years

The Abbey is nice and quite central. About 5 minutes from the Roman baths and shops, less than 10 to Thermae Spa.

Harington’s is nice. Or the Z hotel is nice and central. Or the Broad St Townhouse.

What's your budget? I booked somewhere on Booking.com for our visit in a few weeks - warning it's a pricy city

We stayed here about 10 years ago and it was lovely! www.homewoodbath.co.uk

We stayed at Henrietta House in Bath wick (just over Pulteney Bridge), which was lovely, although it looks like it's been poshed up a lot since we went in 2020 just before lockdown. Great location and very comfy room.

I absolutely loved 15 Great Pulteney Street. Self consciously hip in a way I thought was hilarious (I'm more hip replacement than hip), amazing location and incredibly comfortable beds.

Someone else paid for me to stay at the Gainsborough which was maximum luxury to me. Great stuff but I preferred no 15.

I've stayed at the M Gallery a couple of times and it was very nice. Raymond Blanc's name is on the restaurant although I doubt he'll be there to cook your steak frites! Nothing's that far away in the centre of Bath, but the M Gallery is relatively close to the spa. Do check if you need to pay for parking. I can't remember if we had to pay extra to park at the hotel.

Number 15 is fabulous

stillavid · 24/02/2022 19:23

The Gainsborough is very close to the spa.

When DH and I went we ended up staying in Z hotel as it was so convienient. It's not 'fancy' at all but it is in an amazing central location and is clean and comfy

Apex. A bit more corporate perhaps than the other recommendations, but we liked it.
