I used my old one so much that I pressed the mesh bit right out. It wasn't easy to clean so I am looking for a sturdy press which is easy to clean. Any recommendations? Thanks.

@ApolloandDaphne it comes with a jar holder where you store the garlic. So ergonomic & curvy & nice to hold. It’s truly something.

ApolloandDaphne · 23/02/2022 18:48

I like the look of the rocker kind.

Our current one is similar to this - we find it very good to use and not hard to clean seasoncookshop.co.uk/products/nextrend-garlic-twist-4th-generation?variant=32256402096183

It's called a Garlic Rocker. Came from Amazon.

I am going into my local town tomorrow and they have a lovely cook wear shop. I will go and look armed with these recommendations.

That is very lovely too. I may end up with a number of garlic presses!

I also recommend the NexTrend Garlic Twist. Really easy to use and to clean!

moonfacebaby · 23/02/2022 19:02

Definitely the Oxo one - it’s like a Ferrari of garlic presses. I bought one a couple of years ago and it’s sturdy and bloody brilliant

mikeyboo · 23/02/2022 19:06

I had the IKEA koncis one, I disliked it so much I gave it away and bought an oxo good grips instead. It’s all one piece and you can swing the handle round to remove any garlic caught in the grid.

Sideswiped · 23/02/2022 19:11

I too like a garlic rocker. I had a Joseph Joseph one (very pretty!) but eventually the plastic snapped so I bought an all-metal one from Amazon.
They're good at doing the job and there's no risk to your nails. Smile

MsHampton · 23/02/2022 19:12

I've got the Joseph Joseph Helix too. I've had every bloody garlic press and this is my favourite.
My rocker one was good but snapped easily.

I need a new garlic press. Recommend me one!

Am I the only one who just uses a knife?

whiteroseredrose · 23/02/2022 19:21

@BobGalaxy

I have one from ikea where the mesh/grid thing comes completely out - much easier to clean
Me too. It is really good.

This Brabantia is very good

You can also try the frozen section of larger supermarkets for frozen chopped garlic. And ginger. Saves a ton of hassle.

minipie · 23/02/2022 23:49

Oxo one here too. If you want a standard fill & squeeze type press it’s great. The extruded bits make it very easy to clean, especially if you remember to rinse it straight after use before the garlic juices set solid.

ApolloandDaphne · 24/02/2022 07:21
That link doesn't work. What is the make/type?

If anyone cares about an update, I ordered the Oxo one from Amazon. Apparently my DD has that one in her flat and rates it too. I look forward to future garlic crushing with easy cleaning!

This. Much cheaper too. About £1 for 400 g of crushed garlic all in handy little cubes. You can even get recipe books that tell you how many cubes of garlic to use or I just lob one or two in.
