What would you wear to this?

I have an interview for an administrative volunteering position tomorrow. I've been a SAHM and carer for the past 7 years so thought this would be a good way to get back into work with less pressure on myself but gaining experience and confidence.

Would you wear what you would normally to a job interview or do you think it would be more of an informal thing? I don't want to go too over/underdressed.

Trousers and a smart top.

Wouldn't go fully suited and booted.

Good luck!

smart casual dress & tights, trousers and a top or even smart dark jeans and a top. Nothing too formal, just clean, tidy and presentable.

PeacefulPrune · 23/02/2022 13:52

Can you ask them what the dress code is?

If in doubt I think it's better to be dressed more formal than it is to be dressed more casual than they expect.

I'd probs go with a smart blouse and dark trousers with shoes.

Good luck with your interview.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/02/2022 13:55

Black trousers, blouse, heeled boots.

WhateverHappenedToFayWray · 23/02/2022 14:05

I don't really have any formal shoes. Would something like these be OK?

Yes to the shoes if you're wearing trousers or thick tights (I don't do heels!)

Shoes and trousers are fine, good luck!

Concestor · 23/02/2022 14:44

I interview people for this kind of role. I'd expect you to wear something smart, like office wear, so if I were you I'd change the top to something non black and more like a shirt/blouse if you have one. The all black looks a bit stark. I also would prefer smarter shoes but if those are all you have they will be fine as long as they are clean and don't look bashed up.

Good luck!

bonfireheart · 23/02/2022 14:45

You look great OP.

emmathedilemma · 23/02/2022 14:46

I think that's fine.

bitchinofhitchen · 23/02/2022 14:48

It's perfect t

That's something I don't have, I'll make sure I get one though. Shoes are new looking as I've only worn them a couple of times. I also thought the coat broke up the all black but black is something I always wear. It's a hard habit to break as I find other colours don't suit me

I was going to say a non black top too.

WhateverHappenedToFayWray · 23/02/2022 15:23

I think I'm going to have to wear it. I have other colour tops but they are jumpers and even less formal. I tend to wear comfy, casual clothes.

Post a picture of the trousers and one of you other coloured jumpers.
