10yo MRI shows inflammation Changes in hip

Anyone had a similar experience with their child?

My son is 10 and around 5 months ago woke up one morning unable to put weight on his right leg, A&E did bloods, x rays and ultrasound all normal and was put down to TS!
Symptoms decreased over the week but 10 days later he was again unable to walk saying he had really bad pains in his thigh, the hospital ordered an MRI and fluid was found on his hip.

We were referred to a rheumatologist who ordered another MRI to see if the fluid was still there. Iv just received the results via letter in the post to say it shows inflammatory changes around the right ischio-pubic synchondrosis.

We are waiting for an appointment to see orthopaedics. I’m so confused as to what this means, he gets sent home from school due to pain and I’m at a loss of what this could mean for him. Xxx

Unfortunately it sounds like Rheumatoid arthritis sorry

Thank you for commenting, his rheumatologist has ruled this out and also perthes. I’m at a loss until we get an appointment though to see the orthopaedic dr.

So glad to hear that. I'm afraid that I don't have a clue then but hopefully dr will see him soon and have an answer

It could be JIA. My child was diagnosed at 2 but it can start at anytime.
