What is so good about being female?

In all honestly I'm sick of being female right now.

We have to go through periods, pregnancy (obviously if you want to), smear tests, mammograms.

We get paid less than men still, left behind for promotions as managers see women going off on maternity leave and childcare so don't feel they are as worthy.

We deal with unwanted advances from men, there's been so many murders of women walking home alone so that's another thing we can't do safely.

We deal with the housework, childcare, running of the household all whilst working.

Seriously what is so great about being female as I'm not seeing any positives anymore

(Side note: I've just been for an agonising smear test so feeling very angry at what we women have to deal with)

I love being a woman.

You have much better, closer friends.

You get to have more time
With your children.

You have more choices in how to be successful.

It’s ok to cry and release emotions.

You’re Less likely to die young, go to prison or be violent.

I’ve got loads more…

Sweetmotherofallthatisholyabov · 22/02/2022 20:04

You get to wear make up and high heels and do your hair!!!!! And sexy underwear! Being a woman is AWESOME!!!!!! Hmm

reallybroody · 22/02/2022 20:07

@Pinkbonbon

How the heck was a smear test painful? Was she not looking where she was sticking it xD
Because it can be for some women

@Waxonwaxoff0

I wouldn't want to be a man even though they have a better deal in many ways. After dealing with useless men my entire life I view most of them with contempt and think they're often quite pathetic.
Yes!

I’m feeling pulled between ‘they have such a better deal than us’ and ‘seeing how pathetic so many of them are, I’m not sure I’d like to be like that’.

The worst thing is that those ideas should be incompatible but somehow they arent 😣😣

zippityzip · 22/02/2022 20:09

@reallybroody

I'm so glad I'm not alone in feeling like this.

Just got the proper rage tonight

Wait for a man to come by and tell you it's because of your hormones.
MakkaPakkas · 22/02/2022 20:14

Never expected to know about football
In most countries unlikely to have to go to war
Boobs are good
I think our bodies are nicer
Carrying a child and breastfeeding have their drawbacks but they are quite an incredible experience

Marmelace · 22/02/2022 20:15

That I'm not a man.

FriedTomatoe · 22/02/2022 20:15

Loads of positives of being a woman.
As a woman I'm less likely to get killed in a street attack or mugged.

I can have babies, give birth and bring that child up on my own without a man being involved.
I'm not judged for not wanting a massive career either.

I love having breasts and knowing that I'm capable of having multiple orgasms.

My only issue with being a woman is the amount of judgement other women help upon each other.

Comedycook · 22/02/2022 20:17

I disagree about friendships. My dh has much closer friendships than I do and his friends are more supportive and less judgemental than mine

cafedesreves · 22/02/2022 20:19

I love being a woman. The mother child relationship is so, so special.
I love the fact that I have such close bonds with the women in my family, that there is such a depth of care and concern there.

MsMeNz · 22/02/2022 20:20

Socially acceptable to wear make up etc 😁 I'm rather plain without and people men and women respond to be more positively when I present myself better than au natural 😬

Speak for yourself OP! I'm not paid less than my male colleagues.

I love being a woman! I'd hate to be a man.

Isn't suicide higher amongst men than women? That should tell us something.

I believe i have read somewhere that its higher in single men to single women but highest in married women (lowest in married men).

Based on certain "things" happening politically I would be cynical and say the best thing about being female is unquestioned access to children, whether your own or others.

Mammma91 · 22/02/2022 20:27

I agree with your bitterness OP. I’m feeling the same. Also have thrush (tmi!) and I’m pissed off about it. Whilst DP roams freely, pain free. Having knocked my tampons down the loo earlier and we had to fish them out, one by one. BITTER!!!! Blush Sad

Crinkle77 · 22/02/2022 20:29

Urgh I just wouldn't want a penis and to constantly feeling horny. I'd hate to feel like I had to keep up this macho image and not talk about my feelings in case I get laughed at by my mates. Young men have the highest suicide rates.

Poetrypatty · 22/02/2022 20:29

The fact you can grow a human being inside your own body which is really the most amazing thing when you stop and think about it.

Jackjack0962 · 22/02/2022 20:30

And it’s only going to get worse for us now women only spaces and woman's sports are being obliterated.

McScreamysGhostPants · 22/02/2022 20:36

The (mentally) strongest people I know are all female. Resilience is much more a female trait I think.

Our bodies can be shit when they go wrong but we have a portal between or legs that can bring life into the world. Every single person EVER came from a woman.

I know we are often socialised to care but I like that I care about other people. Women try to leave the house/job/world better than they found it. A lot of men are only out for themselves and their own betterment.

Multiple orgasms.

Featuredcreature · 22/02/2022 20:48

I don't get the multiple orgasms thing, do they come straight after each other or do you have to ramp up each time? Because tbh after one, I'd rather watch the telly.

One after the other, they used to leave me with a euphoric, almost high feeling. Helped my moods drastically. Unfortunately, men and me don't mix. I'd rather be celibate these days.

One after the other. Only had multiple orgasms by myself though. Never met a man that could do it.

l love being a woman, l absolutely refuse to see myself as a hapless victim because l am female.
If only more women could celebrate themselves in all their glory and stop with the victim mentality, stop comparing themselves to men, it is so damaging for the next generation.

handslikecowstits · 22/02/2022 21:10

We are better in every single way. We just are.

Notgettingbetter · 22/02/2022 21:18

I love that I grew my daughter inside my body and that I breastfed her. Both were actually really hard work but I'm very proud of my female body for doing it.

Ah yes. If there is something wrong, it’s the fault of women for having a victim mentality….
