In my daughters (her coat was muddy) I discovered...
A tissue
A sweet wrapper
4 stones
A hama bead creation (broken)
A toy dressing up ring
4 trading cards
A pair of gloves

Shes 10. The stones are apparently special. She has no idea about the ring (although her sister did borrow her coat one day when hers was in the wash).

What would you find in yours? And whe do they stop collecting stones? Both of mine do it...

Stones. And sticks.
If it's my DD, probably a teddy.

HanSB · 22/02/2022 16:11

My 4 year old was walking around with over a kilo of beach pebbles in her coat pockets weighing her down for at least a week. Usually it's full of bits of leaves, mushy flower petals and other such treasures found on walks

MaChienEstUnDick · 22/02/2022 16:16

Aw, I miss those days!

Nowadays it's just 'a phone'. 10 years ago it would have been stones, shells and pine cones.

I'm in my 30s and still collect pockets full of stones, so don't hold out hope of her stopping soon!

Lasagnaface · 22/02/2022 16:32

Catapult
Apple core
And yes, stones. We could gravel a driveway.

I just looked my DS has 3 stones (all precious apparently), a Lego figure, a sweet wrapper, one glove, his doggy cuddle toy which he smuggled to school and a pencil sharpener. He’s 9.

My DD has a packet of crisps, a pair of gloves, a drawing and a key ring. She’s 10.

Xiaoxiong · 22/02/2022 16:45

Sweet wrappers, lolly sticks etc
Occasionally a sweet that has escaped its wrapper and is covered in lint
Tiny bits of Lego
More Lego
More super duper special Lego that CANNOT BE LOST
Special stones are a regular feature too
Folded up wads of paper which when unwrapped are covered in enormous amounts of mysterious writings, codes, diagrams etc for a mysterious game they are playing at school that involves code names and jobs like "overlord of time and space"

Sammilouwho · 22/02/2022 16:45

Normally a stick, some stones and a dinosaur, she's almost 4 :)

Orchidflower1 · 22/02/2022 16:47

Ok older child but one of the orchid boys surprised me when washing his blazer the other week.

He had…..

Kit Kat wrapper
Handgel
Bus pass
A stone (!🤪 he’s a teen so this stone thing clearly carries on)
A pen
A rubber
Half (!) a cricket ball ( not even cricket season- found on the field apparently)
A face mask
Assorted small change
A page from his maths book.

This is why I Check the washing even though everyone is supposed to check their own pockets before it goes in the wash basket. What struck me particularly over this little haul was the half a cricket ball which is why o remembered it. Most weeks there is a similar plethora of bits but the cricket ball really made this stand out!

My 4 years old also had a stone which she was safe keeping all day in her pocket yesterday. It was really really special and we had to find a special box to safe keep it. You can’t even imagine the huge fight her and my 6 years old had over this bloody stone as he also wanted a special stone. Omg

Dead mouse and worms Confused

We have a plant pot by the front door that Ds used to have to empty all stones/leaves/twigs etc into before coming in. We used to get some interesting things growing in there!

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 22/02/2022 20:44

My youngest was walking around with her sisters favourite gemstone for ages. My eldest had been looking for it for a long time! Not sure if this was an innocent mistake or not but she's only 2 so we let her off!

My eldest is quite neat and tidy and likes a clean, empty pocket!

lolbrador · 22/02/2022 20:51

I once found a McDonald's nugget in my dds pocket. It was an incredibly long time since she had last worn said coat, and the nugget looked no different to a fresh nugget.

She was saving it for later.......Hmm

ABitBesotted · 22/02/2022 20:55

DC favour pebbles, nails and dog treats .

BearSoFair · 22/02/2022 21:00

Oh God flashbacks to the year we got DS2's winter coat out and found the remains of a satsuma in the pocket...must have been there 6 months! It wasn't great. Weirdly none of us ever once smelt it, still not sure how that's possible!

changenametimeagain · 22/02/2022 21:25

Usually whatever is missing! A puzzle piece, last two pieces of the Bee Game, car keys. She's 3.

ThatPosterIsSoRight · 22/02/2022 21:27

I’m 47 and my coat pockets are full of stones (interesting pebbles from the beach)

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 22/02/2022 21:30

When recently clearing my handbag, that had several stones, feathers and a pine cone. They put them in my pockets too...

I'm happy that they are more interested in the stones than the phone still.
