Reasons you’re happy to be alive

The world is looking like a really dark place just now. Not sure about everyone else but I find myself spiralling into a dark place in terms of my mental health.

It feels like time to appreciate the good things in life. My children’s’ smiles, walking the dog on a sunny day, a wonderful DH.

Let’s hear your reasons for optimism even when the World feels like it’s against us ❤️

My beautiful, wonderful dc, my dh. My much loved little dog who is currently laying on my lap, snoring peacefully whilst also doubling up as my hot water bottle and so grateful for the fact he’s still with us after having his malignant spleen removed 10 months ago and the vet giving just him 3 months. My lovely home with its warmth, food in the fridge and hot and cold running water. Happy that my dm still remembers me even though she has Alzheimer’s, every day she knows I’m her daughter is a bonus to me. I am thankful that today is a rare good day and my IBS hasn’t set off and I’m able to eat lunch comfortably. Glad we are coming out of winter and seeing the crocuses and snowdrops is uplifting and even more so when the lovely daffodils start popping up.
I still feel scared of life each day, riddled with anxiety and fearful for my children’s future but writing down the good bits and reading them back is reassuring right now.

My amazing dd who at 16 is growing into a fabulous, kind and clever young adult and who likes me a lot even though she's a teenager .
My wonderful dh who is kind and loving to me every day even when I'm a menopausal cow .
My gorgeous step daughters who are fabulous young women.
My bonkers cat who we all adore a ridiculous amount
A weekly walk with my friend lifts my spirits

My lovely lovely cats, past and present, the love of an animal is so pure.
Memories of a wonderful childhood thanks to my much-missed mum.
Two adult kids, who, although they sometimes make me feel out of sight, out of mind, always come good if I need them and still show they need their mum in times of their crisis.
Squirrels playing in the tees and birdsong.
Walking through the churchyard yesterday, I saw the crocuses beginning to pop their heads up...a reminder Spring is on its way.
I have a nice job even if I moan sometimes.
I have a safe little house, countryside minutes away with lovely walks.

What a nice thread.

Me and DH are in excellent health despite being almost sixty.
That makes me glad to be alive.

These are wonderful! It’s funny the things you take for granted that actually are what makes life and the world so special.

I'm happy to be alive because I know I have friends and family who really care about us and are there if we need them, obviously this is reciprocated. I have a 20 year old DD who's studying abroad, who is well liked, doing well on her course and living life to the full, so proud of her. We have a home, jobs, feel safe and have some lovely surroundings. I have my two lovely cats who give me so much pleasure. Still recovering from covid, which started three weeks ago - we had to delay a break away but that's scheduled for next week - so something to look forward to and enjoy, and grateful I can go.

My little boy, he is everything to me and DH. DH too, he's pretty goodGrin

Our extended family, especially my Mum and sister. A new baby on the way for DH's brother and SIL.

We're moving this year, very excited for that.

Good health for everyone we know, we're very lucky for that.

I would say the dog but he drives me abit insane😂🤦‍♀️he has a good life though!

The twinkle in my 7 year old daughters eyes when she's happy. Her gappy smile. The kiss I give her on her forehead when she sleeps. I can honestly say I'm grateful for every day I wake and she's there. God that sounded a lot 🙈
