Holidays abroad single parent with a four year old, best places?

Been looking around for our first holiday abroad as a family. I used to travel for work but with Covid and the separation, just haven't been travelling at all. We've done trips within the UK, mostly to see friends and family. Would anyone be able to recommend any European trips? I don't drive so it would have to be public transport only. We also live in London so a lot of the city things are a bit less new for the 4 year old. Any recommendations? Thank you

What sort of thing do you want?
Beach? city break?

My obvious choice would be efteling theme park in Holland, train or fly.
Possibly combined with duinrell or Berke began or Dutch center parks.

I've found Spain and Corfu to be the easiest using public transport.

I took my ds to Lanzarote when he was just 3. I'd been invited along with some friends. Not a good idea.

It was far too hot. DS reacted by waking at 5am, playing until 10 am, then sleeping until 4 in the afternoon, when he woke up ready to play some more. I spent every day at villa reading while he slept. Hmm

I used to take my dc every year for a long time alone.

I usually went in May when the kids were in school (yes I know I shouldn’t have taken them out), it was cheaper for one and as a rule the pools etc were almost empty. It also wasn’t as hot so wasn’t unbearably hot.

We went to Kos, Corfu, Tunisia (wouldn’t go back) and Spain. I think Corfu was the nicest actually.

Single parent here, been taking DS abroad alone since he was 2. Balearics are best, short flight times and we go in May half term when it's warm but not too hot. I do book packages because it's easier with transfer included.

@Tigersonvaseline wasnt quite sure. We often do all the city things here in London, zoos, aquariums, city parks, castles etc. So maybe somewhere a bit more different.

Would everyone recommend doing any of the 'hot' places with a kid in May?

How much luggage does everyone take?
Sorry you wouldnt think that I was an international commuter before having a kid, but my confidence seems a bit shot at the moment.

I'd definitely look at efteling, stay in central located hotel room.it got separate rooms for child, very beautiful place, very relaxing, oodles of play areas , combined with Berke began stay in site safari park because they also have huge sandy swimming lake And water stuff as well as animals.
Netherlands is fabulous for small children.

Otherwise... Porto soller in Mallorca.

Not much luggage!
Usual stuff for rain, first aid, plaster's, mosquito stuff, Calpol..

Majorca was good when I was a single parent with a 2, 5 and 8 year old. Club Mac in particular!
