Anyone else eye roll at #making memories #living our best life ?!

I have a few people on Facebook that upload a trillion photos of their kids making cakes, playing with pasta etc then title it with things like #makingmemories #livingourbestlife with about 15 # posts.

I post things on facey. A snap of the kids up something etc, but not that many #s.

That's my Monday moan and eyeroll over.

OP posts:

It makes me cringe so badly.

LazyDoll · 21/02/2022 17:06

Yup. So much so I deleted my FB and Insta a year ago and have never looked back!

AuntMasha · 21/02/2022 17:08

Oh lord, yes. Makes me feel a bit killy.

RedMosquito · 21/02/2022 17:09

My husband and I say #makingmemories sarcastically quite often, usually when we’re trying to do something nice and the kids are being arses…
Luckily I don’t seem to spot it on my fb, if I did I would probably cringe

red321 · 21/02/2022 17:09

Can I also add #mymofboys (as am I, so what?), #fitfam and #nofilterneeded. I don't really understand the point of FB hashtags if your account is private?

crosbystillsandmash · 21/02/2022 18:02

Ah 'making memories' otherwise known as 'existing' 🙄
Such folk are beyond tedious and I imagine it's slightly shit being their child!

UghFletcher · 21/02/2022 18:04

#soblessed 🤮

GreenWheat · 21/02/2022 18:13

Throw in #blessed and #thisone and you have a full bingo card! I can't stand any of them. A PP had hit the nail on the head with the observation that this is otherwise known as "doing ordinary things with the kids"

GreenClock · 21/02/2022 19:11

It’s cringe-making. However, the worst culprit in my FB is a really generous, kindly woman so I feel guilty when I eyeroll at her naff statuses.

There is also a woman who refers to being cuddled up with hubby making memories etc etc which is cringe, but her first husband was violent scum and this one is genuinely great, so I kind of get it.

Hen2018 · 21/02/2022 19:12

What the devil is #fitfam? Makes me think of wigwam!

red321 · 21/02/2022 19:36

Fit family. You know, anything that's not gawping at the X box for 12 hours a day...

red321 · 21/02/2022 19:36

I'll also add #solodating (aka being a Billy no mates and having to go to the cinema on your own)

RoseRedRoseBlue · 21/02/2022 19:38

The awful, awful #mamabear

Toottooot · 21/02/2022 19:42

Facey makes me cringe and eye roll. Sorry.

dipdye · 21/02/2022 19:42

The worst are 'teaser' posts

Gvid me a fucking break, no-one gives a shit

GTAlogic · 21/02/2022 19:45

Not really. People can post what they like on their own facebook pages. I only have the people I like on my list of friends and therefore I enjoy seeing their photos and reading their updates.

I post selfies and photos of my own family occasionally (though I am selective and don't upload loads of very similar pictures and always delete the blurred images) as well as one or two status updates each month and I hope my friends aren't sneering at them.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 21/02/2022 19:51

I dont have any friends that say stuff like this. Maybe because we're older. We mostly congratulate each other on having raised our children to adulthood without being too pissed.

OnaBegonia · 21/02/2022 19:52

Let's not forget #mumboss 😀
most of the ppl I see posting memories shite are ones I know their marriage is constant fighting and jealousy 😄

red321 · 21/02/2022 20:02

Also #nofilterneeded. Yay, you're lying on a beach under a perfect blue sky. I, on the other hand, am sat looking out of my rain-splattered window looking at the shitty grey sky. For a whole week.

red321 · 21/02/2022 20:03

PS I am pleased when my friends are on holiday, it's the hashtag. I'm not a total fun sponge (just a partial one)

Borris · 21/02/2022 20:13

It makes me laugh as looking back on my own childhood the best memories are not the big days out, but the funny times when something small happened or went wrong in a funny way.

crosbystillsandmash · 21/02/2022 20:44

@Borris
You're so right!
My kids favourite memories?
The petrol station 'car picnic' we had on the way back from Harry Potter/Warner Bros studios. It included paper plates so was obviously way more special than a memorable family day out!
I'm incredibly patient and spent 10 years at home with my dc doing stuff that would very much be considered #makingnemories but their top memory is the morning I uncharacteristically lost my shit and threw a bottle of hair serum at the wall!!

SilverOtter · 21/02/2022 20:54

See also #holibobs, #hubster and #famalam

🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

sparklyponies · 21/02/2022 20:59

But they're my 🌎 and I want to go on #holibobs with them, where I might need to check in at A&E so you can "inbox me hun".

JohannSebastianBach · 21/02/2022 21:06

Any # at all make me eye roll.
