Police were called by his wife in the middle of the night.
We, at work, have long been told that his wife is mentally unstable, he's scared to leave DC with her, he needs lots of emergency parental leave as a result. The way he tells it it's tragic for all involved and he's in a really difficult position trying to hold down a job, support his wife's health and make sure his children are safe. This episode is all false accusations, she was attacking him.
Everyone and I mean everyone at work seems to 100% believe his story. Ultimately it doesn't matter what we think, police will do what they do, but it makes me really uncomfortable that no one is open to the possibility that it could be true. We work with vulnerable people, so it does matter. I've spoken to my (our) senior manager about it (which is a relevant part of my role) and she sees it as our duty as employers to support him and believe him.
On the face of it he seems decent enough, but I've often been a bit
about the tales of his wife's unreasonable behaviour.
