I'm going to have a "yes week" with ds - without telling him!

Just decided.

I'm off all week - very lucky I know. And I'm feeling better after a shit few days with a grotty cold.

Ds isn't much of an asker - but whatever he asks of me this week (within reason) I'm saying YES

I spend way too much time hurrying him out on a morning, promising we'll do xyz later etc.

I'm a teacher so I always feel like I'm prioritising others

So this week - I predict I'll be hosting lots of his pals. I like them so don't mind saying yes to that request when it comes.

Baking, playing footy, allowing later nights... I'm hoping he'll ask for a PJs day tomorrow!

Anyone else fancy a yes week?

How old is he? Lovely idea but I haven't got the money to grant all my kids wishes, particularly the teenager! Would have to remortgage the house to give her a yes week I think

Sounds lovely. I have a 5 year old and need to balance her wants with the needs/wants of my 2.5 year old who often wants the physical impossible so unfortunately no I won’t be joining you. But enjoy.

I’ve done this just for a weekend when I’ve had a child or two away. In my case it was things like ‘can we stop and look at that car?’ And ‘can we stay up late and watch a film?’

Have fun. I like the idea of this. I sometimes hear myself saying 'no' on autopilot.

Workyticket · 20/02/2022 20:27

He's just turned 10

He rarely asks for things - he's got a wedge of birthday and Xmas money that he's not arsed about spending.

It's more about doing things that I'd usually say "maybe tomorrow" to

If he asks for pancakes for breakfast usually I say no because we're in a rush for example.

Lovely idea! DS and I are clashing a bit at the moment. One going through puberty and one going through menopause.
This might be nice for us to do too.
