I got one after reading a thread on here. They are warm but not great for doing anything in as the sleeves are massive and get everywhere without you reslising. Like a poster above said, you need to take it off when doing anything which is a pain.
Dressing gown is equally warm and less of a pain as you don't need to undress to do simple things like cook, make coffee, wash up, clean litter tray etc... (all impossible with the oodie unfortunately).

Afonavon · 20/02/2022 09:09

@rosieelliot

How is the length of the Oodie? We’re a very tall family and I’m worried our legs would still be cold!
Yes, your legs will be cold. But I find sitting either cross legged or with my knees pulled up on the sofa, the Oodie fits over me completely. We also have a heated throw as an alternative, but of course that costs money to run.
BadPlaceJanet · 20/02/2022 09:10

I bought one yesterday. I've resisted for ages as I have loads of nice jumpers and I think they look so stupid, even though I'm normally a complete sucker for anything fleecy and warm. But I idly clicked a link and saw there was a Seinfeld-themed Oodie, so I bought it because I bloody adore Seinfeld 🙄

By doing this at the end of Feb I've probably ensured there will be no more cold weather this winter, so you're all welcome.

Cailleach · 20/02/2022 09:13

P.S they are reduced at the minute to £16.99-mine was £24 last week.

It's currently 13° in my flat but it doesn't feel like it with this on! I intend not to put the heating on ever again, unless to stop pipes bursting, but use this plus dehumidifier and open windows from now on.

sparklyponies · 20/02/2022 09:14

I've got an Amazon one, £25 so middle ground maybe between Primark and Oodie. Love it.

But yes, too much to get in the way when cooking etc ... and I get too warm if I try to do anything significant in it.

Cailleach · 20/02/2022 09:14

@rosieelliot the one I have linked to above comes right down to my ankles.

colliecolliecollieoioioi · 20/02/2022 09:15

just got back from walking the dog and sitting under a thick woollen blanket with a cocoa.

Inthesameboatatmo · 20/02/2022 09:21

@ohidoliketobe
Not letting me share a link unfortunately. It's the Ehechicia (sp) ones if you type in hooded blanket they are the first ones to come up.

notthemum · 20/02/2022 09:24

Mine is Primark, bought just before Christmas. (Is a Christmas one, with Mickey mouse on it). It is huge, comes past my knees (although, I am only just over 5ft tall.) I love it, happy to wear inside or out , don't need a coat (unless raining and I am a very chilly soul). Cost around £17. Have washed in machine on wool wash, comes up lovely, didn't risk the dryer though.
Don't need to take it off to do anything, has cuffs on the sleeves.
I think this is definitely one of my favourite clothes purchases ever.

Thank you very much!

Milliemoo1908 · 20/02/2022 09:36

Primarni one here and love it!😁

TuscanApothecary · 20/02/2022 09:38

I love my garlic bread oodie. But I haven't saved any money on heating as I don't like wearing it unless I'm sat down.

InTheNameOfAllThatIsHonest · 20/02/2022 09:38

This is the warmest knock off you'll find on amazon Sienna Hoodie Blanket Ultra Soft Sherpa Fleece Warm Cosy Comfy Oversized Wearable Hooded Sweatshirt Throw for Women Girls Adults Men Boys Kids Big Pocket - Charcoal Grey www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0851KN668/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_g_687K4WTZ038C60DFXCXJ?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Wolfiefan · 20/02/2022 09:39

I finally caved and bought an Oodie. It is sooooo warm. Love it.

NotJustACigar · 20/02/2022 09:46

I have a real Oodie and a Primark one. I love and wear them both but the real Oodie is definitely thicker and warmer. Usually the Primark one is warm enough though.

For those saying their legs will still be cold - you wear joggers or leggings or whatever with them. I have no idea why the adverts show people with bare legs wearing them - your legs would freeze if it's cold enough to need your Oodie.

I don't mind walking around with mine, etc. The only thing I don't like to do is cook at the hob due to fire risk.

SkankingMopoke · 20/02/2022 10:33

I have a Kudd.ly, chosen over the Oodie as it is apparently longer. I'm 5'7'', and it is knee-length on me. DH laughed at first, but since I made him try mine on he is keen to get one for WFH days and camping. He is 6' and and XL size in T-shirts, and it was still a very roomy fit. It was mid-thigh on him though, and he was disappointed to hear there isn't a longer length.

I too find it impossible to do cooking and other tasks (like hanging up washing) in it, as there is just too much fabric to work around, but I would take it off for those jobs any way as it gets too warm to wear once you're moving around IMO.
Perfect when sitting though. It was a God send last month when I was sat ordering and inputting receipts and doing my tax return for the week. With no one else in the house I couldn't justify putting the heating on, and it was bloody freezing by 10am. The Kudd.ly (plus some slipper socks for my easily-chilled toes) kept me really toasty.

Wavypurple · 20/02/2022 11:08

I got mine on amazon and it is amazing. Well, I got it for DP as a Christmas present a couple of years ago and we now share it depending on who is the most freezing 🤣 I think it was around £30 so much cheaper than the official oodie.

It’s so warm we have to take it off sometimes because we’re overheating. Love it.

IsadoraQuagmire · 20/02/2022 11:11

I started off with a Sienna from Amazon, then got a Kudd.ly which is twice as thick and warm and worth every penny. Also longer than the cheaper one. I really feel the cold so, for me, the Kudd.ly is perfect, the Sienna would be fine for anyone more warm blooded. Both are much warmer than even the coziest dressing gown and they dont get in the way of doing anything for me, you just push the sleeves up.
Wearing the Sienna at the moment as the Kudd.ly was washed yesterday and is still slightly damp, can't wait for it to dry as it's cold in my flat!

Workyticket · 20/02/2022 11:13

I'm slobbing in my knock off Amazon one.

Hands down the best £20 I've ever spent

Workyticket · 20/02/2022 11:18

Oh but now I'm tempted by an ankle.length one!

I'm only 5'2" though!

Sockpile · 20/02/2022 11:19

I have an oodie but generally find it too hot - should have bought a cheaper primark one!

GlowBuzzers · 20/02/2022 11:19

I love my sienna. I don't need the extra warmth as I'm well insulated Wink

Cattitudes · 20/02/2022 11:31

We have a The Cuddly rather than an actual oodie. It is much warmer than the other oodie knock offs we have. Although they are useful in spring and autumn.

Workyticket · 20/02/2022 11:34

Just ordered the ankle length one someone linked to upthread - I'm currently slobbing in a knee length one. Dh just shakes his head when I saunter down in it!

LazyMareofEastown · 20/02/2022 11:34

My Oodie is the single best thing DP has ever bought me.

When I have to wash it I basically stand in front of the washing machine waiting for it to be done so I can put it in the dryer and get it back on. Like a toddler with their blanky 🤣

Plus, it has otters on it 😍

So cosy in my Ooodie this morning
