Would you live in Virgin River?

Only at the beginning of season 2 (so please no big spoilers!) but my answer is no!

Normally those small town shows with beautiful countryside make me want to pack up and go, but not this time. You have to drive so far to get anywhere - 2 hours each way for a date, no thank you! They’re far too far from a hospital (gives me palpitations just thinking about), umm drug growers taking up?! Contaminating the water and being a generally terrifying threat! Breaking down on the road and being stuck for hours, again the drug growers come down.

Whenever Mel is stuck somewhere and Jack needs to drive her home I think “thank god he’s not a sexual predator”.

So no I don’t actually want to live there Grin anyone else?

Anyone else seen a tv show that looks idealistic but has actually put you off?

Hmmmm I fantasise about VIrgin River and Serenity (watching series 2 now). Quite liked schitts creek too.

I would love some better community and bigger house and kids playing out...

mnahmnah · 19/02/2022 22:12

Did anyone watch Hart of Dixie? I could have lived there! Great show. Doc was in that too. As a doctor! Exact same character really.

TwoBlondes · 19/02/2022 22:12

I couldn't live anywhere I might bump into Mel, she's not likeable imho (and she's coming between me and Jack)

No not Virgin River. Serenity and Schitt’s Creek yes!

Amichelle84 · 19/02/2022 22:14

It's so pretty...but NO!

Trouble follows me around enough as it is.

They are all so boring and serious too.

No but I will now!

I love the big houses, big verandas. I’ll marry a really rich, handsome man (who will probably populate a quarter of the town, but oh well). I’ll also have a fantastic figure and look like none of my children kept me up at night for years. I’d like a good bit of scenery from my bedroom winter.

I was thinking about that show the other day! Loved it.

@BiscuitLover3678

Lots of humour. Lots of eye candy. Lots of twists in different characters stories. Really engaging and fun.

Jack is hot, but he’s bloody miserable isn’t he?! You don’t see them having a laugh much[/quote]
I really fancied Jack at first but by the end of series 2 he was starting to get on my nerves. Series 3 I turned my attention to Brady. Didn't like him at first but then he started to get hotter.

Malibuismysecrethome · 20/02/2022 03:27

Yes but I couldn’t join the knitting circle as I can’t knit or bake. Beautiful place though

Justilou1 · 20/02/2022 03:35

By myself yes… but then again, I keep thinking about how many people in the US. own guns, how many have unregistered, unlicensed guns, and how many voted for Trump.
There sure are a lot of hot men in Virgin River though… (Jack’s actually an Aussie, btw.)

LoveFall · 20/02/2022 03:39

Virgin River is filmed in Vancouver and other areas in BC. Jack's Bar was apparently filmed in Brackendale, BC.

That's a place where there are congregations of eagles from October to early January.

Snug Cove on Bowen Island, a short ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay, is another site.

unicornpower · 20/02/2022 03:56

Hart of Dixie was fab! Loved all the characters in that show and was a fabulous setting. I do love Virgin River though, but you’re right it’s a bit serious, I think they need some more humour in it. I would live there though if I had a job- maybe in clear river?!

KatherineJaneway · 20/02/2022 06:44

No, far too rural for me but Jack would make me think twice.

reasonableme · 20/02/2022 07:13

I would love to go on a holiday and stay there for 3 months or so. I would visit Jack's bar every single day. He is incredibly hot, chivalrous and a wonderful man. Wish he got over his past and looked a bit less serious

highlighta · 20/02/2022 07:31

I grew up in a small town. Seriously you couldn't fart without someone having an opinion on it.

If I had been out as a teen for example, my mother knew what I had been up to before I got home 😂

And there were no Jack's there unfortunately.

All the good looking popular kids got a bit of a shock when they went on to live life in other places, where there were also other good looking kids and then they weren't all that anymore.

But Mel is quite annoying I agree. As for docs wife (I forgot her name) she would be enough to make me move.

I would like to go hang out there for a week or so though. But my one horse town experiences were enough for me.

ilovebagpuss · 20/02/2022 09:54

I love the idea of Serenity but they are all a bit too religious for me. Nothing wrong with having faith but they are always holding hands and quoting bits and it feels a bit culty sometimes.
Also on the topic how come the houses are always immaculate and there is always some hot local desperate to go out with them? The kids are always immaculate too and so polite. They seem to have so much free time for wandering around town having meet ups, Grin
I would love the houses though with the verandas and the weather. I would be the heathen one that doesn't go to church or own a gun or run any sort of helpful community service.

froomeonthebroom · 20/02/2022 10:04

Maybe we could move Jack's Bar to Stars Hollow, that town needs a bar!

mnahmnah · 20/02/2022 10:14

@froomeonthebroom

Would love to see some of the Stars Hollow residents after a few drinks!

Shmithecat2 · 20/02/2022 10:15

No, but I'd love Mel's cabin as a holiday home.

Sookie would be fun after a few, recently saw the one where Jackson deep fries the turkey for thanksgiving :)

Whelmed · 20/02/2022 12:28

I'd hate to live with the EastEnders, constant drama and crime!

mnahmnah · 20/02/2022 12:36

@froomeonthebroom

Ah great memories of watching it! Might have to watch them all again. Not been hooked on something like that for ages

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 20/02/2022 21:27

Which programme is Serenity in? (Not, I guess,
“Serenity”…)
I need something comforting to watch while they make the next season of Virgin River.
