What can be done for a cough?

My 10 year old son can't stop coughing, tried everything he had covid about three weeks ago (wasn't ill) but only started coughing in past few days.

Apparently vicks on feet works but I haven't tried it

I'd say prop up as much as possible, extra pillows, dressing gown under pillows if necessary
