Where to park for Heathrow terminal 5 departures?

Taking someone to Heathrow terminal 5. I need to park and go in with them. Where do we park for departures?

Long stay car park. Get the bus to the terminal 2 hours free parking

Or short stay right by the terminal (expensive but easy)

They may have changed the long stay at Heathrow you used to get two hours free.

With the short stay, is it the same parking for arrivals and departures? I picked them up last week and it was super easy, but didn’t know if departures was different!

I think dropped my dad off a few weeks ago at terminal 5. It’s £5 to drop off or collect. Drop off was easy, like a taxi tank you just pulled in. Don’t think you could abandon the car though. Collection was more of a pain, there’s a multi storey car park. I would think you could park in there and get out.

It will definitely cost you unless you’re willing to park further away and get a bus there and back.

Yes, it’s the same.

Yes of course, it's just a short stay car park, they don't care if you are picking up, dropping off or having a day out at terminal 5

I was going to recommend the pod parking (as it's fab!) but seems they've swapped pods for buses grrr. Assume it's Covid related but how frustrating! Love the pods!
