Influx of post for people not living here

I've lived at my address for 4 years. We used to get mail for the previous occupants which is common and it tailed off.

However, over the past few weeks we have received 4 different pieces of mail, all with different names, with my exact address on it.

I've got them sitting in my porch ready to pop back into the post box. I keep forgetting to take them but as I now have quite the collection I will do that today.

This type of thing hasn't happened before so it seems odd to be suddenly receiving 4 letters for 4 different people.

The letters are for Tesco Clubcard, a company pension, Student Loans Company and what appears to be a mailshot from a car company so pretty innocuous.

Would this seem odd to you or just an unusual coincidence?

I would open them NO it's not illegal just to make sure there is nothing untoward

I had mail addressed to my house that turned out to be someone applying for a bank account

DH is a postie. He says this is common for people opening credit on your address.

Check immediately your credit score and if it's lower than you expect contact all the companies who have sent you the letters to say you didn't open any credit with them.

Also notify Action Fraud, who are a police-led fraud team.

Student loans only send a letter once a year so they could have forgot to update. Same with pension

I dontt think those are innocous, they all suggest someone possibly using your address for financial things. I'd be concerned and would check the letters

We had a car registered to our address a few years back, I reported to the garage and the fraud squad. They gave me a crime reference number in case out property we used in fraud. What if a credit card was registered to your address and you were left with the bill.

I work in finance so know that I wouldn't be left with the bill if someone took credit out at my address.

As it happens I didn't post them today but I won't be opening them. Tesco clubcard and a car company mailshot doesn't concern me. And neither does a company pension letter although admittedly that's a bit weird. The student loans one, hell my student loans letter prob still goes to my old address. I may have got the same letter annually for this customer from them and just haven't noticed before/recognised the name/my husband picked it up and binned it. Who knows.

It's still odd but I'm leaning towards coincidence as none of the companies are concerning and, more importantly, none are in my name so are not linked to me.
