Hi. We are renting and this is the 3rd night since the boiler has broken down. I let the landlady know since the night it happened and she tried to find someone ho have a look for repairs but it's too old to be repaired! ( I let her know last winter that boiler is not working right but said the gas engineer didn't flag any problems)
Now the day before yesterday she said she doesn't find anyone to install a boiler and yesteday she said she's been speaking to a company I redirected her to but the earliest they can come is Tuesday! I have 4 kids under 5yo and the youngest is only 2 weeks. We have 2 small radiators but just being wake up of one of the kids as it's freezing cold. What can I do?

I do hope the gas engineers come on Tuesday rather than Wednesday.🤞
I presume you will get a % off your rent because of lack of heat and the fact you had to resort to very expensive electric heaters.

I don't think so, i've told her about and she didn't say anything that she'll help at least with a small amount towards it, thing that didn't surprise me. Though I will take a meter reading after the boiler is installed to see how much extra was as we just sent a meter reading short before boiler breaking down and ask her again to contribute given that I made her aware the boiler is going to break since last winter, several times.

Why are you being so passive about this, and just 'surprised' about her total lack of health? You have young and vulnerable kids, and it's so far from ok. She needs to get you radiators now (and ideally pay the extra electric), put you up in a local hotel/short term rental or you can say you'll call environmental health.

Not saying you'd ever want to go to court for this, but the rulings in the past have absolutely been that the tenants in these cases deserve compensation for rental and costs over and above.

She's a terrible landlord.
