What are you doing with your toddler today?

Nursery is closed because of the weather so I'll be entertaining 3 year old DD at home today. I am heavily pregnant so trying to come up with ideas for low effort activities!

So far I've got:

Having a long bath with all her toys
Water painting
Baking cupcakes

What will you be doing today?

Probably a ridiculous amount of TV I'm afraid. Might do some baking but v low on food as my sainsburys shop was cancelled..

Cocomelonearworm · 18/02/2022 12:21

We've watched some TV too, had a bath and done some painting. Now having lunch.

I think this afternoon we might do biscuit decorating with some rich teas and sprinkles and icing sugar.

We spend so much time out of the house normally that it's quite a challenge today! Just accepting the place is slowly getting trashed Grin

We have made flapjacks, read stories and then played Teddy bears porridge in the tuff tray with some more oats. It makes a mess but they hoover up really easily.

She is having a nap now and this afternoon we will probably play with playdoh or water painting and play kitchen/babies/other role play. If the weather brightens up we might go for a walk round the block.

So far we’ve made bread and ginger biscuits, done a train set, read what feels like 500 books, drank tea, had a video call with my mum, done washing up, spent a lot of time looking out the window wondering how many trees we’ll lose and how long the fence will hold out - it’s not looking great tbh.

Long bath is a good idea, the afternoon is stretching out for miles and she’s restless and antsy and could really use a walk…

Rrrob · 18/02/2022 13:13

We’ve done painting, one in still in pyjamas…and will let them wash their plastic toys in the washing up bowl later before a long bath.

Will try some baking later but have limited supplies. Any good cake recipes without butter/ fancy alternatives that I def don’t have?!

Jellycatrabbit · 18/02/2022 13:21

We love cutting things out of magazines (today a Lidl one that came through the door) and sticking (gluing) them back onto plain paper.

Drawing outlines of numbers and letters and dc will paint them in.

Loading the real dishwasher with plastic plates and cutlery. And then unloading.

"Bathing the baby" (doll in little sister's baby bath)

Also stickers and Lego.

Following for more ideas!

Have you got flour, bicarb or baking powder, sugar, oil and milk @Rrrob? Might be able to help.

Going slowly insane with a 7 Yr old and 18month old. Just decided on a family nap

Cheekypeach · 18/02/2022 13:55

@Dumbledoressister

Going slowly mad so far.
Me too. I rely on getting out & about with DD, she seems to need fresh air to stay calm & settled (as do I!). Sooner this storm fucks off the better!
Rrrob · 18/02/2022 14:23

Yes! @AnneLovesGilbert

Dumbledoressister · 18/02/2022 14:31

6 month old refusing to nap as well. This is the longest day of my life.

AnneLovesGilbert · 18/02/2022 14:38

Then you’re all good!

Try this www.allrecipes.com/recipe/231619/orange-vegan-cake/

If you don’t have an orange then use milk. I’ve made it twice, very different both times. But the DC loved it.

Worth a go.

MooseBreath · 18/02/2022 15:30

DS 20 months. I'm trying to calm a seemingly neverending tantrum. Nap today was apparently a pipe dream. No activity has lasted longer than 5 minutes and they've all been done with excess clinging and whinging.
