Can anyone recommend a website/forum to find out more about a piece of jewellery?

I’ve got a bangle and broach set that was handed down to me, it was on antiques roadshow years ago (v rare, few made etc) and was worth about £1500. I’ve long since forgotten the bloody maker and cannot find ANYTHING online about it so wondering if there’s a site I could post a pic and find out more

Can you take a picture the do a Google lens search on it to see if it comes up with the same image somewhere ? . It might jog your memory of the name

Is there a chance you could find the clip of antiques roadshow on YouTube?

Email in to the antiques road show with photos and see what their researchers come up with.

Thank you!

Have done google lens search but it’s a dragon/serpent thing so it comes up w so many generic things that I’ve never narrowed it down!

Unfortunately the episode was so long ago that I wouldn’t have the first idea what to look for on YouTube!

Emailing the researchers is a god go! I’ll give it a go.

Thanks again! I’ve attached a pic incase anyone is a (gaudy Grin) jewellery expert Grin

there should be a makers mark somewhere, usually its easy to spot but sometimes its hidden away. If its hallmarked that will give the year and assay office.

It looks victorian in style to me. Is it a flying fish? I know they used to be popular at one time.

An auction house specialising in jewellery or an antique dealer might be able to give you a rough idea based on the pictures but obviously would want to see the real thing when you can get it.

linmanuel · 19/02/2022 10:49

You can just walk up to the auction houses in London and ask them.

linmanuel · 19/02/2022 10:51

Sorry that wasn't clear. I used to work in a Major international auction house
If you go to london, retrieve the piece and then go up to South Ken and Bond Street you wilL be able to get an idea of value
And they should be able to tell you more.

You don't have to sell with them.
