MINUS £127.

It's a smart meter. I working away until tomorrow so will check when get back but but according to the bill the meter has been running backwards.

Has this happened to anyone else? Obviously I'd be delighted if it was right, but I don't think so somehow Grin

Is the meter reading actually less than it was before or is it just that you have paid more than necessary so are on credit?

Do you have solar panels or a turbine as that's usually wht causes a meter to go backwards and its needs a back stop meter fitted to stop it doing that.

Blossom64265 · 17/02/2022 16:16

It would more likely be an overpayment.

PineappleWilson · 17/02/2022 16:33

I've seen it where someone has solar panels, as they cross charge back onto the grid.

No solar panels so its not that. It's not shown as an overpayment - literally a minus meter reading.

The meter reading is substantially lower than it was 4 weeks ago.

I'm confused! Perhaps all will become clear when I take a look look at it!

Are both meter readings actual readings if so then you need your meter checked by an engineer. If one or both are estimated then there in probably lies your problem.

MrsPear · 17/02/2022 18:27

The whole point of a smart meter is there is no estimating so it must be a fault.

Hellocatshome · 17/02/2022 18:37

It depends which smart meter you have as Smet1's (the ones first installed) loose their smart functionality if you change provider

BOOTS52 · 17/02/2022 18:48

Maybe they did an estimate before and overcalculated it and did a reading this time so that is why there is a lower number and credit. Has happened to me here also.

Kuachui · 17/02/2022 18:51

with my bills - means its in the minus so you would owe that amount

Ohmnomnom · 17/02/2022 18:52

Warm homes discount?

This was my huge argument with Octopus who seemed incapable of understanding that on an invoice a minus indicates a credit rather than a debit.

Have you got a bill with meter readings etc all broken down with actual readings and how they were recorded?
