What type of property do I live in?

My house is connected to next door’s house on one side (lounge / dining rooms adjoining).

On the other side of my house I am connected to my garage. I can access my garage from my back garden or through the up and over door to the front. I cannot access it internally from my house (I don’t know if this is relevant).

My garage is then connected to my other NDN’s garage and then their garage is connected to their house. The other side of their house is then connected to their other NDN the same way as mine is on my other side (lounge / dining room adjoining).

On Zoopla/ Rightmove etc my house is listed as terraced. My NDN’s house (with garages adjoining) is listed as semi detached. Which description is correct and will this type of description affect the house prices? Does anybody know?

I believe they are called link houses

Like this? If you Google there are lots of images which will help work out if it is your house

Mine is the same, if I’m understanding you right, and it’s deemed semi-detached.

ThatsALotOfPassionfruit · 17/02/2022 12:51

I’d call that a semi-detached because your living spaces are only connected on one side.

otherwiseitllbeboris · 17/02/2022 12:53

Linked detached is when a single storey is attached by only one of four sides.

From what you say you are semi detached by the lounge side and linked. Semi detached would superceed linked.

Semi detached.

Sosigsandwich · 17/02/2022 12:57

I'd think semi too

OldTinHat · 17/02/2022 13:04

I would agree with semi.

whywouldntyou · 17/02/2022 13:07

Terraced because you cannot access your garden except through a building (either garage or house). Link detached is when your house is joined to another by a garage.

Wineoclockx · 17/02/2022 13:11

Thanks everyone, I have always thought I lived in a semi, so was surprised to see it described as terraced but I do kind of see this logic too. But then again my living space is not joining anyone else’s living space on both sides, which is what I would have thought terraced was. Strange that my NDN’s and mine are listed differently though.

Can you have a link semi-detached?!

Dmsandfloatydress · 17/02/2022 13:31

I would say its a link terraced as you can only access the back of your house through the garage.

RTHJ14 · 17/02/2022 13:33

My parents house was just like that and we always called it a semi detached! Xx
