Hi so about 4 weeks ago my son had green stools and very bad pain , this passed. Then we got covid and he had diorhea all back to normal butane nighg and this morning he had blood in his stool. I've spoken to the dr who has made him a appointment for Friday. Does anyone know what to expect at the appointment to prepare my son ? I'm hoping it's fro. Straining buy then he wasn't when it actually happened.

Was it bright red? That's usually indicative of a sore bum from straining, usually nothing to worry about

If it was darker/deeper in colour, that usually means it came from further up the digestive tract and may need investigating

Make sure he drinks plenty fluids and eats healthily so his stool is easier to pass

Hope he's feeling better soon

Yes it was bright red. Thank you thats reassuring. I've been getting him to drink loads of water and ge eatsoads of veg and fruit so that should help with that. Thank you.

Bright red is usually from a fissure. Can be painful, sometimes not though.
