How many towels would you expect for a 25 day stay?

We have a little 1 bed Airbnb. It's usually only ever rented for weekends but we have a couple coming to stay for 25 days soon. They are happy to make their own beds etc and so I'm leaving them with all linen and towels for the period and we will collect a sack of the dirties every week. I'm leaving 4 sets of bed linen but I'm totally stumped as to how many bath towels, hand towels and shower mats to leave them though!

Weekenders are easy with a bath towel each, and a shower mat and a hand towel
Me and DH are happy to use a towel for a week or so so my instinct is to leave them with 4 each but the towel related threads on here makes me think it's not enough.

How many towels and specifically bath sheets per person would you expect to be left with for a 25 day stay in a small Airbnb? And is a bed linen set a week sufficient?

I'd say new set every 3-4 days. But definitely every week.

Silkierabbit · 16/02/2022 00:30

Is there a washing machine at the property? If I could wash things myself and dry them 2 sets per person would be fine with me so could wash them myself if needed. If not 1 per week sounds reasonable. Though maybe ask them as will vary.

grapewine · 16/02/2022 00:30

New linen once a week would be fine for me.

Isausernameavailable · 16/02/2022 00:34

I think you need more than 4 sets of linen unless you'll replace weekly when you pick up the laundy; for a 27 day stay with 4 sets they would be on for best part of a week which is a bit grim.

Marynotsocontrary · 16/02/2022 00:44

4 towels per person isn't nearly enough for a 25 day stay (unless there's a washing machine in the property they can use?) Just about enough for a week I'd have thought. Not enough bed linen either imo. I'd be dropping off fresh linen/towels when I collect the dirty each week.

Marynotsocontrary · 16/02/2022 00:46

I think they'd need 2 sets linen per week anyway.

TheChosenTwo · 16/02/2022 00:52

Do they have access to a washing machine?

Jumpingintomenopause · 16/02/2022 00:52

I would be happy with 4 sets of bed linen but would expect fresh towels 2/3 times a week.

DeoForty · 16/02/2022 00:56

2 Sets of towels a week would be acceptable, I'd say. The linen changes sounds fine.

Floralnomad · 16/02/2022 01:02

I’d expect fresh linen at least 2x per week and towels at least 3 x per week .

BurscoughBooths · 16/02/2022 01:31

Crikey, there’s a lot of fresh towels being used. One change a week is plenty, both towels and bedding.

FiveShelties · 16/02/2022 01:40

@Floralnomad

I’d expect fresh linen at least 2x per week and towels at least 3 x per week .
This is what I would expect too.

Are they doing the cleaning as well as changing the bed?

MrsTerryPratchett · 16/02/2022 01:41

Have you got a heated towel rail or radiator? That makes all the difference.

SmorgasBorb · 16/02/2022 01:50

Interesting thoughts. They are getting a massive discount for long term stay but it's still a bit of money and I'd prefer them to be well catered for. Yes there's a washing machine and dryer but I feel like they should get ready to go linen as I'd hate for them to have to spend days washing stuff

If I left say 8 bath towels per person that allows a new towel every 3 days. Maybe 6 sets of linen at the outset and I'll keep an eye on their usage and provide more ready washed sets if they seem to be getting thorough it plus I'll ask them to text me if they need any more.

I'm reluctant to massively overcater as we rely on tank water (rainwater) and a septic tank and it's a hot summer here but me and DH are used to water conservation so a towel and linen change 1x a week is luxury to is! Washing towels and linen every 3 days seems terrifyingly wasteful. City folk used to reticulation who feel like they are paying a premium for a property probably think differently however.

Two heated towel rails but height of summer here anyway

I have foregone the cleaning fee full stop as I asked if they wanted a weekly clean and they said no they'd do it themselves.

Sorry. Hope that wasn't a drip feed re the tank water

I think the whole 'height of summer' and the tank water is a drip feed! I used a LOT fewer towels in Australia or East Africa than in the UK. Water shortages and droughts do make you a bit more frugal.

Plus the people of MN are obsessed with changing linens and towels every few minutes.

CombatBarbie · 16/02/2022 02:18

Hmm if I were booking somewhere that relied on a water tank I'd be conserving that for showers if the stay is in high temps. I wouldn't be expecting a bedding change 2x week in those circumstances. If there's a clothes airer I'd be same with the towels. At a push 2 sets per 7 days.

StrawberryPot · 16/02/2022 02:25

Personally I'd provide them with 3 sets of bed linen and 3 sets of towels. It's hardly onerous to stick towels in the washing machine and dryer. Same for bedding if it's reasonably crease proof and doesn't require much/any ironing.

Think that's fair I would rather leave to many than not enough 2 towels a week and a bed change every week is normal to me so leaving a few extras is OK to me

Looking at these replies I am completely the wrong person to respond!!
Towels dry you after you are clean, so should be good for a lot longer than bedding.

custardbear · 16/02/2022 02:42

2 sets of towels a week and 1 set of linen

Towardsus · 16/02/2022 02:50

Enough to change them once a week. Possibly twice a week for a hand towel.

Squishmael · 16/02/2022 02:51

I would give them 3 sets each and tell them to ask when they need more
