Did your DC do a GCSE resit last Autumn?

I’ve also posted this in Secondary Education but not had any replies.
If your DC did a GCSE resit last Autumn did they improve their grades? I know only maths and English language grades are out so far but my dc is waiting for another subject next week. Obviously they had to sit the full exams so wondering how dc have done. Don’t know anyone else in RL who have done one.

We had several of ours improve in English and maths, not many, but some! Hope your DC gets the result they want!

Thanks @vivavivaviva fingers crossed. My dcs teacher recommended that he sat the exams as he felt the mark school gave him didn’t reflect his ability. I did feel it wasn’t really fair because he had to sit the actual exams and I assume no allowance will be made for that despite the circumstances this year.

Was there a particular reason he bothered rosie ? I was thinking most teens would be disappointed but would then decide to concentrate on their A levels / BTEC rather than having to revise for a GCSE all over again. (Just interested, DD is y12 too.)

It’s a subject he wants to persue at university and he was really disappointed with the mark he got. Really hope his hard work paid off as tbh it was a pain as he really wanted to put GCSEs behind him.

My son did a resit last autumn. Grade went down! He finally passed this year

DS16 had to resit his English in Autumn. His grade went up by two marks x

Oh no! Really glad he’s passed now though -well done to him for persisting.

Thanks - we had appealed his original result as we were genuinely surprised that he didn't pass. Just relieved for him. Fingers crossed for your DC x
