I have a birthday coming up and DP asked what I want. So, what would you ask for?! I need ideas 🙈

I want some nice heat proof mats for the dining table Grin I’ve been looking but nothing is taking my fancy right now.
Not sure I’d want anyone else to choose them though and If I’m going to the hassle of choosing something I may as well just buy it myself!
I don’t tend to ask dh for presents, he just picks something.
Do you always have to give ideas? I’d be annoyed at having to do the thinking Grin

@TheChosenTwo I don't have a dining table as in a small flat at the moment! Grin
No, usually get surprises (or give ideas like jewellery, shoes but not specific!). I think he wanted to see if there was anything I wanted because he usually surprises!

I can always think of things I want but now I've been asked I've gone blank!

Fair enough:
On my list of things I’m currently looking for are: table mats, a bath shelf (you know, one you can rest your iPad on for Netflix in the bath!), running trainers (have ordered 2 pairs and sent both back so far), another sports bra and a leather jacket.
I like to have lists like these on the go, nothing I desperately need right now but thinks I can take the time to look for.

I can buy my own gifts but I would love a full day of having my husband and kids make me breakfast, lunch and dinner for me and do the clean-up.

I don't want to be asked anything about what I want to eat, how to cook it, what it needs...
I just want it put in front of me and taken away when I'm done. You know, like the way food magically appears for them?!

Yeah, like that.

Donation to charity.

I never understand these threads. Surely if you don't know what you want it's because you don't want anything. The artificially deciding you want something that someone else has thought of for you just for the sake of having a thing is so weird.

Had a lovely birthday a few years ago -- basically freedom and just thinking about my own wants for the day. Was a Friday so did school drop off, then went to local lido and had a package for swim, lunch and massage. Into town and got some bits from m & s (including small bottle wine) and stayed in a hotel overnight. Got up when I wanted, had a bath un-interrupted, no one shouting for me, or at each other...peace and quiet! Still one of my favourite birthdays. Kids were 4 and 6 so youngest not quite at school.

But this year will prob ask for chanel allure, some books, nice truffles...
And some velvetiser hot choc sachets - the salted clementine ones are the business!!

MsSquiz · 14/02/2022 20:06

This year I will be asking DH to pay for my side of an overnight trip with SIL to London.

But usually there's a new handbag or shoes, toiletries (fancier bath stuff than I would buy regularly and skincare), & chocolates.

He likes me to do a list of things I'd like/need/want so he can choose from it or go rogue

A framed print or two from King and McGaw. Or a large house plant and stand. Or this sea urchin necklace www.poshtottydesigns.com/media/catalog/product/cache/521a7c155cd8b6caba84b4d4dd055a1f/s/e/sea_urchin_nacklace_gold_2.jpg
