12 hour shifts. How can I prepare myself?

I'm starting a new job soon, 12 hour shifts.
For the past 16 years I've only worked part time due to raising my children.
This is going to be a shock to the system isn't it?
It's also a standing job and I have to wear safety boots.
What are your best tips?

Plan your week in advance.
Batch prepare/cook on your days off.
Big water bottle.
Change your socks midway through the shift.
If standing all day, look at compression socks, do calve raises a few times throughout the day to get your circulation going.

Is it day or night shifts, or a mixture? I think getting the food / nutrition right is the main thing.

You will be exhausted at first but you will get used to it over time.

It will be 6am-6pm
Compression socks are a great idea.
Dh will sort tea, I don't have to worry about that, he's a good'un.
